We had the good fortune of connecting with Makenzie Patton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Makenzie, how does your business help the community?
My photography business helps the world by bringing joy to others. I am self taught, so I’ve really focused on bringing out the best in people when it comes to taking pictures. I feel like making people feel beautiful and capturing the special moments is such a bright light in this dark world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Kaptured_by_kenz was once just a fun idea I had in my head. Now, it has come to life and is one of my biggest accomplishments. It was not easy having to teach myself photography, especially at 19 years old, but knowing I did this on my own has made it something I am so proud of. I’m a sophomore at UTA about to apply to nursing school, so balancing work and school has been difficult, but I wouldn’t change a thing! I am most excited to see where this business takes me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love the DFW area! Some of my favorite picture spots are the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, Mansfield Nature Park, Veterans Park, or the Stockyards! If you’ve never been to this area, I would absolutely recommend the zoo, Chicken-N-Pickle, the Highlands, Six Flags, Stockyards, or Whataburger!! Also, DFW has lots of yummy places to get sweet treats 😉

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My motivation is my friend, Hannah Joy, who passed away last year. She has inspired me to spread joy in all that I do, so I stepped out of my comfort zone to start my photography business! Her passing has also made me realize how short/unexpected life is, so I love to capture all of the special moments and memories while I can!
