We had the good fortune of connecting with Remy Reilly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Remy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As a kid, I was always around music, my father is a record promoter so he would often bring me on the job. That meant a lot of concerts, radio station tours, and seeing behind the scenes of everything an artist does. I never thought much of it until one of the artists had rented a cajón for their set and it was kept at my house, I started playing that and singing. Yes, a cajón started my musical journey. My dad bought me a drum set, I started doing gigs and never looked back. Now I am in school for audio engineering and enjoying everything this career has to offer, almost ten years later.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing about my music, every song sounds quite different. I’ve explored many genres while trying to find my sound. I think that’s going to be an ongoing journey for the rest of my life. Just exploring, trying new things. A huge thing for me is colors! The brand is rainbows! So the sound reflects that sounding like so many different colors. I’ve learned not to focus all your energy on trying to sound like one thing, or be one thing, the truth is we are constantly evolving and the brand has to change and grow to be successful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many hidden gems in Dallas, I think obviously we would have lots of live music in the plans. I’d definitely start the morning by taking them to Opening Bell coffee and sharing stories of how I began playing there as a kid. Maybe there would be live music already happening that early. Then i’d want to take them vintage shopping and thrifting around, show them Dolly Python and all the gems! I love a good Dallas Arboretum visit, especially since it’s music in the park time. Then we’d end the night club hopping Deep Ellum! Finding all of the live music from venue to venue and run into all of my musical friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my mom and dad! For always supporting my dreams and making everything possible for me. I’d also love to shoutout 91.7KXT! My hometown radio station for playing music since the very beginning at just 14 years old! They have been such huge supporters and have helped me grow so much as an artist, love them!
