Meet Charley Turo

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charley Turo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charley, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
At the heart of my organizing business is a commitment to giving back to our community through thoughtful redistribution of resources. When helping clients declutter their homes, I ensure that every usable item finds a meaningful second life through carefully selected local charities including Genesis Women’s Shelter, Goodwill, Casa, and the AIDS Resource Center.
This approach transforms what could be wasteful into something wonderful. Rather than seeing belongings end up in landfills, my clients witness their once-treasured items becoming lifelines for families in transition, job seekers building professional wardrobes, or individuals starting fresh. Over the past 12 years, I’ve facilitated the donation of thousands of items, creating a ripple effect of generosity that extends far beyond organized closets.
The magic happens when clients realize their decluttering journey isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces—it’s about creating opportunities for others. Every donated coat becomes warmth for someone in need, every professional outfit becomes confidence for a job interview, and every household item becomes a foundation for someone rebuilding their life. This community-centered approach ensures that the organizing process feels purposeful and impactful, knowing that letting go leads to lifting others up.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Closet Karma represents the perfect fusion of my two greatest passions: transforming chaos into harmony and giving back to my community. What sets us apart isn’t just our organizing expertise—it’s our comprehensive approach that considers both the client’s well-being and our community’s needs.
Building this business has been anything but easy, and honestly, it still requires incredible drive, passion, and unwavering commitment every single day. When business slows down, you have to dig in your heels and relentlessly pursue that next opportunity. But those challenging moments pale in comparison to witnessing the pure joy on a client’s face when they see their transformed space for the first time. There’s something magical about watching someone walk into their renewed environment and feeling their mind and soul instantly calm as their chaos finally finds resolution.
My approach is deeply collaborative. I always tell clients, “I don’t live here—I organize in a way that makes sense, but it doesn’t necessarily have to make sense for you, so we can make changes as we go.” This philosophy ensures that every space becomes uniquely theirs, perfectly tailored to their lifestyle and needs.
The lotus flower serves as our logo and guiding metaphor. It’s the only flower in the world with the ability to self-clean, rising from muddy waters to become something breathtakingly beautiful. This symbolizes our entire mission: spaces get messy, but we’re here to help them rise again. It also reflects our donation philosophy—giving items a second chance to be loved and appreciated by someone new.
What I want the world to know is that Closet Karma isn’t just about organizing—it’s about renewal, community, and the transformative power of creating harmony from chaos.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would normally take my friends to the library bar for martinis. This is one of my favorite places. I love the ambiance and style of the bar. It’s always a great time with great music. There are so many fabulous places all over Dallas for dinner. I love the Charles as well as Hudson House and many other places.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to dedicate this shoutout to my incredible network of friends and family who have been my foundation throughout this entrepreneurial journey. Running a small business requires relentless dedication, and there were moments when the challenges felt overwhelming. During those tough times, it was their unwavering belief in me and their constant encouragement to “keep going” that made all the difference.
My father, being an entrepreneur himself, has been particularly influential in shaping my understanding of what true success requires. He taught me that entrepreneurship demands everything you’ve got—that there really is “no rest for the weary” when you’re building something meaningful. His example showed me that the hard work and sleepless nights are investments in creating something bigger than yourself.
What truly amazes me is how many friends took that leap of faith to become my first clients, trusting me with their most personal spaces before I had a portfolio to show. They didn’t just hire me—they became my biggest advocates, sharing their experiences with their own networks and generating the word-of-mouth referrals that became the lifeblood of my growing business.
