Meet Tosin Opaleke | African Comedian, MC and Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tosin Opaleke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tosin, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
By the end of my career, I want to be globally recognized as a transformative figure in African entertainment, storytelling, and cultural influence. I want to build a multi-platform legacy that spans comedy, live events, television, and business, all rooted in authenticity and excellence. My mission is to establish institutions that nurture talent, shift narratives, and amplify African voices worldwide. A core part of my journey is empowering and mentoring younger people — helping them find their voice, believe in their dreams, and create boldly. I want my work to inspire joy and fearless self-expression across generations. Ultimately, I want the name Tosin Opaleke to stand as a symbol of creativity, consistency, and purpose while living a life of freedom, generosity, and spiritual fulfillment.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is about storytelling that connects through comedy, event hosting, acting, and what I’ve learned about various African cultures. I started hosting events and doing standup comedy as a child in Ilorin, and I have grown my craft step by step, taking bold risks and pushing boundaries across events, media, and entrepreneurship. What sets me apart is my ability to blend humor with purpose, creating unforgettable experiences that uplift and inspire.
It hasn’t been easy, but every challenge sharpened my vision. I’ve learned to bet on myself, stay consistent, and keep the next generation in mind. That’s why I founded Afro Comedy Club — not just a show, but a future global institution for African voices in comedy and creativity.
I want the world to know: I’m building something timeless, and I’m doing it to inspire those coming after me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my best friend visits Dallas, I’ll craft an experience that reflects everything I love — style, creativity, culture, and a whole lot of joy. We’ll start the week with skyline views and fine dining at Monarch, then explore the vibrant Trinity Art Park followed by some late-night fun at Free Play, an adult arcade just around the corner. The vibe shifts midweek with upscale meals at Ellie’s and cocktails at The Library and The Parliament, where they serve the best Old Fashioned in the city. Thursday night is always reserved for Afro Comedy Club at Carpe Kitchen & Cocktails — my passion project and a rising cultural movement for African voices in comedy.
As the weekend approaches, we dive into fashion with a trip to Men’s Wearhouse and then turn up the adrenaline with a visit to Eagle Gun Range. After that, it’s all about exploring Dallas’ hidden food gems. We close the week with spiritual grounding at Social Dallas — a powerful way to reflect and recharge before heading back. It’s more than sightseeing; it’s a curated blend of inspiration, laughter, and unforgettable moments — Dallas, the Tosin Opaleke way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout-out to everyone who has ever lived in the city of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.
That is where my career started.
