We had the good fortune of connecting with Shirley Melgarejo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shirley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted something that combined everything someone would think of when starting a new project!. Whether it’s a business or a personal project, you never know when it can start something you’ve always wanted to do. No project is too small & I want to encourage anyone to take a leap at that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets mirada Creata apart is that story telling isn’t a one size fit all. Every project is crafted individually with us and it’s not your general, overall framework or strategy that most digital marketers provide. I’ve personally spent on a few services from different digital managers in which I’d never found beneficial until i placed my own touch in my content and creations. Your creation and content should be a reflection of who you are and the right clientele and organizations will work with you.
Even though I’ve had much experience the biggest challenge was just to simply start. Many people don’t start a project because “it’s too much” or “it’s too small” already disregarding the potential of something that can tell a story and make an impact.

What id like for people to know about Mirada Creata is everyone’s story is different but there’s only one vision—yours.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are several places to visit in Dallas but the favorite spots are anywhere you can find markets or good food! Carrollton has many good Asian inspired places, along with several local businesses markets that sell the cutest merch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank those who have believed in me! Specially those that have started projects with me and took the chance on me to work on them. Specifically firstly, Rayanna Fields, she was my first marketing internship at the dream center and since then I’m continued to create for various size nonprofits, including local businesses like The Tasty Picnic (a local picnic service).
