We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Kovalsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
I started my basketball organization when I was 14, driven by a passion for the game and a desire to give others the same opportunity to grow. It began with a group of friends and local players, just a few games on the court, but quickly evolved into something bigger. I reached out to sponsors, organized clinics and tournaments, and learned what it took to run a team and develop talent. Over time, what started as a small, informal group turned into a full-fledged organization, focused on developing young athletes both on and off the court.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I was 14, I was told I’d never succeed. My friends laughed, my parents didn’t take me seriously, and the basketball community didn’t believe in me. But I was determined to prove them wrong. I wanted to show everyone that I could build something meaningful, no matter how many doubters I had. Starting out was tough—I began with just one kid, working for free, and trained in the rain when no one else was around. It wasn’t easy, but I kept grinding, working long hours on my website, hanging up posters, and doing whatever it took to get the word out. Slowly, my hard work paid off, and I built my first team.

The challenges were real, and sometimes it felt like I was fighting an uphill battle, but I never gave up. I had to separate myself from the crowd, to put in the extra effort when others weren’t looking. Along the way, I learned that success isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about how you face them. At first, I wanted to do this for the money, but as I grew, my passion shifted. I realized I wasn’t just teaching basketball; I was shaping young people’s lives. The joy I got from coaching kids, seeing their growth both on and off the court, became the real reward.

Today, I want people to know that anything is possible if you put in the hard work and effort. My story is proof that passion and perseverance can turn a dream into reality—even when everyone around you doubts you. It’s not always easy, but if you stay committed and keep pushing forward, there’s nothing you can’t achieve.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Not much to do in Frisco but I would take them to the star .very cool place since I played football in hs

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a special shoutout to my best friend since childhood, Saketh. We grew up playing basketball together, and it was actually his idea to start this organization. Even though life took us down different paths, I’ll always be grateful for the role he played in inspiring the Dream Team Elite.
