Meet Lanie Brown America Hutchins | Wedding and Event Planners

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lanie Brown America Hutchins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lanie Brown, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson owning a business has taught me/us is that you have to be able to manage your time and emotions well. Time management is so important in the wedding industry and just as a business owner in general. Everyone needs a little piece of. you and to have a little piece of you means some of your time. We have learned to lean into the relationships that we have created with not only our clients but other wedding vendors around us, and to create meaningful relationships that means giving everyone quality time. So time management and creating relationships are two of the top things this business has taught us.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Martinez Brown Events was built by two best friends that had a passion to grow a small business in the wedding industry and spread love by helping our clients create beautiful weddings and events. Our desire was to take out the stress of wedding planning by allowing each of our clients full access to two planners for the duration of the wedding planning process and wedding day. We began our company in 2019, and started growing right before the pandemic hit us. While the pandemic made it hard to grow a business when we couldn’t not be around anyone we still knew that this business was something God placed on our hearts and we were not going to let that stop us. We continued to grow during this time by creating relationships and still letting our couples know we would be there for them no matter the struggle. We have learned that creating relationships is key. We want our client to know that they will be taken care of from the time of our first interaction on. We continue to work hard and grow our brand as two best friends trying to show love and take the stress out of your event planning process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Goodness this is a full questions! There are so many good places in the DFW area. I would say we would start off our week by staying at La Palmilla Resort and Retreat for a couple of days to relax and unwind. Take some time exploring what the river and downtown Glen Rose have to offer. Before heading to the Fort Worth side of DFW and taking a couple of nights to stay in the historic stockyards at Hotel Drover and grabbing some drinks and food on Exchange street (so many good restaurants and bars) while watching the historic cattle drive, and dancing at the best salons in town. Before moving over to Grapevine and spending some time wining and dining up and down Main St in Grapevine (even better if it is during Christmas time). Then moving on to Frisco to see the Star (because who doesn’t want to see Americas team) and then grabbing some lunch and drinks in the Star District. Finally moving to Dallas and spending some time in Dallas grabbing a coffee Lala Land Kind Cafe and taking some time to shop around the galleria and hit a few spots in Deep Ellum.. This is just the start, we need so much longer than a week to show all the hidden gems in DFW.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This business wouldn’t be what it is today without out our friends, family, and vendor friends that have believed in America and myself (Lanie) from the beginning. We have grown to what we are today simply from word of mouth and social media and the relationships we have built within the industry.
