Meet Sarah Rosie

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Rosie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah Rosie, how does your business help the community?
The best part of my job is that I get to connect with people who are deeply passionate about their work, and partner with them to highlight their work, and help them grow toward their dream! That’s why I’ve chosen to work with other small businesses and nonprofits as much as possible. I know every dollar counts for small businesses with tight margins, and nonprofits that fundraise their budgets, so I work hard to create value that provides an incredible return on investment.
Not only do I intentionally price my services to keep them within reach of these smaller organizations, but I also choose a different nonprofit every month to volunteer 4-8 hours of creative work! One of my recent volunteer projects was a professional headshots photo session with the incredible organization Attitudes and Attires in Downtown Dallas. I loved partnering with these incredible women, and capturing the joy, brilliance, and energy of the veterans who attended this event.
If any nonprofits are interested in connecting, and applying to get on this list for one of these monthly donations, I would love for them to reach out!!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My first creative job was portrait photography, over 15 years ago! Starting with a camera gave me eyes to see and celebrate what is special in every person and every business. Partnering with me means you will be seen clearly, valued uniquely, and empowered to tell your story!
Since then, I’ve worked as an in-house creative for a few different nonprofit organizations in a few places. I moved to Dallas in 2014, and met my husband here! After years of juggling multiple creative hats in a 9-5, I jumped with both feet into my own small business. I officially started taking freelance and contract clients as Sarah Rosie Studios in 2023, and I have loved the journey. It’s been a roller coaster, with lots of lessons learned, but the relationships I’ve built with my clients, the organizations I’ve been able to serve with my art, and the way God has provided for us when things have gotten tight.
I love approaching my creative work from multiple perspectives — for example, when I teach workshops about photography, I teach the attendees to approach photography as both a science and an art.
Design, photography, and video should be approached for small businesses as a piece of the puzzle that helps them grow. These pieces can fill in the gap for business owners who need to connect with their target audience and tell their story in ways that captivate people and compel them to build long-term relationships. Creative projects like this can be strategically utilized for growth, but they can also bring a sense of art and beauty to the brand!
As I create visuals for my clients, I strive for authenticity and joy in everything, while finding ways to share love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am the QUEEN of getting the best local experience on the smallest budget! So I love finding the free experiences, and spending money at the local small businesses whenever possible.
When I lived in Downtown Dallas, I loved walking to the Farmers Market! I would grab some breakfast tacos or pastries from the local booths, and grab a coffee to kick off the weekend on Saturday mornings. Next, I loved taking a book to the Dallas Museum of Art or Klyde Warren Park for a free and beautiful spot to read. The local food trucks that hung out at the park were a major bonus – if you haven’t had a hot sandwich from Ruthie’s, you are missing out in a major way.
After taking a friend to Klyde Warren and the DMA, I would make sure we stopped next for some antiquing and thrift shopping at my favorite spot, Lula B’s. For dinner afterwards, of course we’d have to stop by Fuel City Tacos for the best street tacos in town!
If you are looking for some fun after dinner, Cidercade Dallas gives you the most bang for your buck, and has some DELICIOUS local ciders (and kombucha!!) on tap!
Or, for a post-taco stroll, I would suggest a loop or two around the water at Vitruvian Park, and then a beer or two at Vitruvian Park Tavern to end the night.
For the rest of the week, depending on the neighborhood, I would either suggest morning visits to NATIVE Coffee in Addison, Magnolia Sous Le Pont in Harwood (downtown), Communion Coffee in Richardson, or Lemma Coffee in Plano or Carrollton.
I always love a good walk around White Rock Lake in Dallas, or Oak Point Park and Nature Reserve in Plano.
A few local places to grab a drink when friends are in town include Sharky’s on Preston Road in Far North Dallas, Four Corners Brewery just outside Downtown Dallas, and Voodoo Brewery in Downtown Plano.
My husband and I have also been eating a lot of hot chicken lately – our favorite is Sal’s Nashville Hot Chicken in Plano!
And if we’re planning on grabbing a movie, I love bringing out of town friends to the Inwood Theatre on Lovers Lane, and the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff, for a sense of history and REAL theatre popcorn!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to Shoutout my friend Cherie Privett! She has been an incredible friend and supporter for the past several years, and is one of the first people who hired me when I launched my small business. We meet weekly to share notes on how my business is growing, how her nonprofit City Missions is growing, and how we can partner together to make a positive impact with combined effort and influence! Our monthly meetings are always full of encouragement, wisdom, and joy.
I super admire how Cherie considers others—she is the ultimate bridge-builder and door-opener. Even before I had completed the website for her nonprofit that she hired me to create, she had already given referrals to other businesses and nonprofits that have already hired me for multiple projects since! She loves to equip people to pursue their interests and dreams, and her investments in others have multiplied in more ways than one.
Her organization, City Missions, serves and equips people who are struggling through homelessness and housing challenges in Collin County, helping them build the relationships and find the resources they need to obtain and maintain stable housing. Information about City Missions can be found at citymissions.org.
