We had the good fortune of connecting with Yoni Lang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yoni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Wolf and the Fox was a business my fiance, Liz Scobee and I started around 6 years ago. We started doing in-home omakase dinners for our friends when we had spare time between our full time jobs. Fast foward through the next few years of opening a restaurant in NYC during the pandemic, we decided to head back to Dallas and focus on Wolf and the Fox. It allowed us to work for ourselves and to find a much healthier balance in the industry.

What should our readers know about your business?
Liz and I started our in-home sushi omakase business about 6 years ago. There weren’t any specific omakase sushi restaurants in Dallas at the time and we were itching to feed friends and family our food and give them our experience. It certainly wasn’t easy and building up any food business requires a lot of years in every kind of restaurant that you’re able to get experience in. Since I started in the food industry I knew I wanted to have my own restaurant or own my own business. It was just a matter of building the knowledge and experience to gain the confidence. Once you jump off that cliff if kind of just feel like a never ending series of jumping off the next one. I feel very lucky to be able to be creative for a living and I believe creativity is a gateway for empathy, opening your mind to broader perspectives and feeling more fulfilled.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It would be pretty hard on food, breakfast at Jonathons, midday swim at the FOE, lunch sandwiches at Jimmy’s Deli, Herby’s smashburger for a post lunch snack, Lucia for dinner, Revelers Hall for some live music, and then over to Cosmo’s for some late night pho and cold ones.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
That’s certainly true. I’ve been lucky enough to have been supported by a lot of people in my career. My fiance, Liz Scobee, has been such an incredibly hard working and supportive partner. My mom and brother, all the chefs and coaches who have mentored me, my close friends. I have no shortage of good people that I have or have had in my life.
