We had the good fortune of connecting with The Jeffro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I see myself being one of the most impactful artists of my time, and hopefully after as well. I don’t believe we’ve heard someone speak from my perspective before. It took awhile to cultivate an original style but it was well worth it. And I think that’s the blueprint to being significant, which is the foundation to being remembered. Legendary status is something I’ve always chased just life wise so its no different with the music.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I think the first thing that sets me apart from others in my field is my voice. I didn’t really see the uniqueness in it at first, but I learned to embrace it and it’s changed my sound and creative process. It definitely wasn’t easy but nothing worth it ever is. I just always saw myself reaching my goal and I never let myself believe that I wouldn’t, even when those thoughts came. One of the main lessons I’ve learned along the way is you have to believe and see it even no one else can. You have to be locked in to your mind and sometimes get lost in it to avoid listening to others. I want the world to know that GROOL is something much bigger than myself and it’s really something the world needs rather than something else to consume. Last Sad Summer will change the trajectory of my career and hopefully hip hop as a whole.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really don’t go out much anymore, so I don’t really know what’s new. But I would definitely take them Glorias Latin Cuisine, one of my favorite spots to eat and have a margarita. A Mavericks game is always cool to go to or maybe Texas Live and just watch the game there. Definitely got to take them to Galleria or NorthPark Mall if they want to shop. And for sure take them to Deep Ellum one night and bar hop around or maybe a concert depending on if somebody we like is in town. Other than that, I’m not really sure I’m kind of a homebody.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This answer could probably lead to a whole book, so I’ll try to keep it short because I have had so many influences. Growing up in Alexandria Louisiana, a small tight knit city for my first 9 years of life really shaped me so much. My grandfather is probably my most important influence as far as just speaking my mind and being an individual. Our birthdays are one day apart so we were a lot alike. Musically it’s been too many to count but T.I. Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Curren$y and Kanye West are probably the biggest. As I get more into reading the one book that really impacted me was The Alchemist, I’ve read it like 10 times and often go back to it when I need to get back on track. And of course, my beautiful mother and sisters are my hearts and motivation.
