We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber & Ray Kanady and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber & Ray, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We believe the most important factor behind our success is marrying/partnering with the right person. We were able to set a foundation in our personal relationship that has transcended into our business relationship and from there we were able to truly be successful in our business endeavors. We are not always on the same page but we are always in the same chapter and that allows us to really grow individually and as a couple. Being in business with your spouse can be very challenging but we have decided to make our relationship and business work and we have had success in both. Our success has come in stages, and in every stage there is a lesson to learn.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We own and operate a food trailer called Chicken Headz Cajun Fried Chicken. Being in the food industry is completely different for us because we started our entrepreneurial journey in the trucking industry however last year we decided to pivot into food mainly because we wanted to do something different and noticed there wasn’t a lot of places serving the South Louisiana cuisine we love and grew up accustomed to. This journey into the food industry has been challenging, exciting, fun, motivating and disappointing but overall we have been enjoying the industry. Along the way we have learned so much about this industry and how hard the work actually is. We are no strangers to hard work but this is entirely different than what we were used to but along the way things have gotten better. Luckily, Ray and I have the same goals with this business and that, in my opinion, sets us apart from other people. We cook good food and sometimes that is all people want. When a customer walks up to our trailer they are greeted with a smile and leave with food that will make you say our slogan ” Ca C’est Bon (Thats good). We don’t have all the bells and whistles but the food is simple and good. We want the world to know that Chicken Headz Cajun Fried Chicken is here to make our mark and will do so with a wing in one hand and a bowl of smoked jambalaya in the other.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting we would have tons of fun and not be home often. Our itinerary would be something like breakfast at Cafecito, Snooze, Breakfast Brothers, and or The Post. After breakfast we would do some shopping at the mall (all of them) and lunch at Smokeaholics, Ober Here, Cava, Serious Pizza or Kintaro. Stop by Mamaka Bowls for a quick snack and maybe to the zoo to walk around and feed the giraffes. Another day possibly travel to Dallas and do some shopping and eat at St Roccos or Crown Block, maybe a Mavs game. I would definitely take my friend to Loft 22 for cake and lastly to our food trailer (if possible)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our family and friends have been a HUGE support to us. They have come out and showered us with love and support and we can’t thank them enough. Especially our parents!!!
