We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Rossi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meghan, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was a child, I have always loved creating and thinking outside the box. I was always the kid who got in trouble for being too chatty in class, daydreaming, and of course – drawing. I think being artistic is an outlet for so many, myself included. I remember our 4th grade counselor, Ms. Samples, telling us “to find something you love and find a way to make money doing it” and I think that tidbit from nearly 25+ years ago really stuck with me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I remember thinking I was not a good artist or creative enough when I would sit in critiques during college. I would look at all of the beautiful oil paintings and digital design my classmates did and thought about their attention to detail, their lines, shadows, highlights and think that my work was just okay in comparison.
More than that, I thought that I did not belong in an institution like college. I am the first of my immediate family to earn a bachelor’s degree, and the first of my immediate and extended family to earn a master’s degree. My undergrad is a BFA in Arts & Humanities — like who goes to college for art (is what I was be told) and what on Earth was I going to do with such a degree? Through these harsh questions and criticisms, I learned that it is okay to pursue what brings you joy and passion — even if it is not the “norm” or does not immediately make you rich and famous. 😉
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would dedicate this to my husband, Christian, our beloved dog Bailey (who we had to say goodbye to this April), and our new pup, Theodore.
Christian and I met 14 (almost 15 years ago) and he has stuck by me through undergrad and graduate school. Also always by my side was my sweet boy, Bailey. I got him as a puppy at the age of 18 and he saw me through the best and worst of times.
My mom, my dad, my brother, our friends — they all supported me and have done so much to be there for everything.
