Meet Chelsea Hampton | Career Consultant & Confidence Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Hampton, founder of careersequipped career consultant and confidence coach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Careersequipped because I am my clients. I am the black young woman who graduated with a degree and started working in the criminal justice filed as an analyst. I thought that this my my career forever but I was met with so many different obstacles and challenges. I worked in the capacity of federal and local criminal justice and I just was not fitting in. I dealt with racism , sexism, and ageism. Imagine being 22 and dealing with this without having the resources to navigate or even advise on the next step to further yourself. I found myself transitioning out of the federal sector into the local sector of criminal justice which was rewarding but very overworked and underpaid.
I decided to transition myself out of criminal justice but into corporate america; no crazy hours and more appreciation in the income side if you know what I mean.
After going through this process of being depressed and researching of changing my career; I knew there were other women out here like myself. My experience birthed Careers equipped ! Now I help women defeat the odds and rise above and get what they deserve without compromising their peace and time.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Careers Equipped is different than any other career consultant /coaching business that you are going to come across. I help women redefine who they are and take back their power. I help women work through their confidence hurdles. Confidence is key when going through a career journey. The type of career consultant I am is not easy; I do not hold back, I am a accountability partner, best friend, shoulder to cry on,supporter, biggest fan for all of my clients . The biggest lesson I;ve learned thus far is that you cannot help people who are not ready to be helped.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love brunch at Yolk then a walk at Clyde warrren park to grab ice cream from the ice cream food truck there. I love to go to the att discovery district to relax and grab cocktails and listen to music. I would then go to sky blossom which is a nice rooftop in downtown Dallas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout all women who trust me with their lives ! This process is a journey and it’s not easy. I’d like to stay that wanting peace and reading A subtle art of not giving a F as showed me and taught me how to appreciate your journey and how you deserve what you put out.
