We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofia Cristina and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sofia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
A huge factor in my success is leaving a mark on people. I love meeting new people & getting to know each individual that sits in my chair. I try to share my knowledge and give good advice to people. Making a great impression is a key factor to having returning clients.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always had love and respect for art. I see beauty in a lot of things. In my opinion, cutting hair is a form of art. Each haircut is unique and personal. You can completely transform the look of an individual with a haircut.
Many people are unaware of how much hard work, dedication and patience it takes to become a successful barber. It can be rough starting off as a new barber. There are many days spent sitting, waiting and hoping for someone to give you a chance to cut their hair. We do not have paid time off or sick days. Every haircut counts.
Deciding to never quit has been a big contribution to my success. Like many other people, I have hard mental health days. Pushing through, trusting the process and dedicating my time to work has made it possible to receive many blessings.
I want people to know that this is truly a passion of mine. I love meeting new people. When you book an appointment with me it is more than just a haircut, it is an experience. I enjoy getting to know my clients and building a solid foundation with each individual. My main focus is making sure my clients are 100% satisfied when they leave my chair.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite restaurants is Wabi House. If you’re a fan of ramen, check them out.
Usually, my friends & I will grab drinks at Poags on 7th St.
For fun I like to go to Cidercade in downtown Fort Worth.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I want to thank my father, Angel. My father has supported my decision to be a barber since day one. He is my biggest fan. To this day he pushes me to strive for bigger things.
I would also like to shout out Mr. Barber Barbershop in Harrison, New Jersey. Danny & Pito were the first people to give a chance to cut in a barbershop and shared their knowledge with me. I am forever grateful.
