We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Cross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been a nurse for 10 years. Most of that was at the bedside, some was as a travel and agency nurse, and some as a US Army nurse. I have worked in different specialties but at the end of the day I would return home slowly getting burned out and exhausted, taking days to recover only to do it again. My family was getting a shell of who I was and that’s not right. My faith is number one, my family is right behind that. I wanted time and energy to spend with them and my own schedule to do life with them. In all I do I do it to my best and in such a way as to be a benefit to others. So when my husband and I thought about starting our own business, we knew we could not only make it work, but do it well. I love serving people, caring for people. My husband and I strive to show all people love and kindness in all we do. In this particular business and avenue, it plays to my strengths as a nurse and allows me to continue to care for people. We were very excited to start this venture and I am looking forward to building it in the Dallas area.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a nurse, I am very proud of that and I am good at what I do. I was an Army nurse for 5 years, the training and experiences I gained from that and the people I met cannot be beat nor compare to anything else. I would not trade that experience my experience in the Army for anything. In my nursing career I have worked in medical-surgical, operating room, plastic surgery as a scrub nurse assist, and labor and delivery. In order to get where I am today I went through years of schooling and additional training I pursued on my own, they were not required of me. I specialized as an OBGYN/L&D nursing while in the Army and it required an additional 16 weeks of specialized training. If you meet a specialized nurse in the Army know that took weeks of extra training and schooling to get there. None of it was easy, but it was all worth it. You need to be willing to push through, look to the end result you are hoping for, and fight for it. You’ll want to give up at times, other things are definitely easier. But when you finish something difficult, the result and reward is so much sweeter! I relied on on my relationship with Jesus, my husband and family, and others in the thick of working towards their own goal. You may feel like no one knows what you’re going through, but there is always someone out there who does. Find them. I’ve learned to stand up for myself and others, but I am not loud. Everyone is going or has gone through something, if we understood that as a whole we would be much more loving and connected as a whole. I’ve learned a lot of self discipline, I still have a lot to learn when it comes to self discipline if I am being honest. A big lesson I could impart is: Don’t settle, don’t give up on people or ideas either. Everything good in life takes some work, it’s worth it! Work towards your dream and goal, bring people up with you along the way. If you are not making others better as you move forward, or bringing others with you, you will not have a foundation to stand on when you get there.
IV (intravenous) infusions, B12 shots, Botox, fillers… all of these have been around a long time and multiple people offer them. I am different because I am mobile: I come to you! I want to save my clients times and help them recapture hours in their day as they pursue their wellbeing goals. I work where you are comfortable, that could be your home, office or out at a kids soccer practice. I also offer you a personal experience and my clients are my focus when they are with me. I have expertise that is backed up with experience. I am a new company and our goal is to help people pursue their wellbeing and enrich their life. We want to give back to the world and show our kids how to be the best positive impacts to others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough one! My husband and I have only been in the Dallas area for a year so we are still exploring and getting to know the city! We also have two young children so I will give some family friendly options and some more adult/couple options. One of our favorite places to go to eat and get some beers/drinks at is Standard Service in Heath. It plays sports games on a big TV, has a pickle ball court, and a wide open area for our kids to run around in. Not to mention the food is fantastic, service is great, and the beer selection is delicious. Peticolas brewing company in Dallas has some of our favorite brews and it’s a fun hang out spot. The Dallas Arboretum is beautiful and relaxing! Great for adults only but also their children’s area is wonderful! My kids love it and play enough to get worn out! If you ever get a chance to do a candlelight quartet concert at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, don’t miss it! A mixology class in downtown Dallas makes for a great date night. Dallas also offers a Segway tour that covers major landmark and historical places, such as route JFK took and where he was assassinated, that was such a fun thing to do with friends! Even if you live in Dallas I highly recommend it. (We did it years ago with friends when we visited so I unfortunately don’t remember the name of the company). Again we are still exploring and looking for fun and unique things. If y’all have anything to suggest I will take any and all suggestions for us to check out or experience! We’re big foodies too. So if you book an appointment with me or see me around give me all the suggestions!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I have to give thanks and credit to God and Christ, my redeemer. I have seen his hands at work throughout my life and everything I have I owe to Him and give back to Him. Behind that it is definitely my husband. He pushed me to pursue this idea, and God opened the doors. My husband has been behind me all the way and encourages me on a daily basis. He is also good at giving me a push out of my comfort zone when I need it and takes on roles in the business when I am unable or just because he wants to be involved.
