We had the good fortune of connecting with Gladys Adarkwah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gladys, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have had the privilege of traveling to over 16 different countries, primarily in Asia and I loved every second of every trip. But what I loved more was how refreshed and renewed I felt after each trip. There is really a GLOW that comes upon you when you take the time to step away from your comfort zone and explore the world of the unknown, try new foods and meet new people.

Although, I love traveling, I don’t necessarily like the process of booking the flight, searching for accommodations etc, but what I do love is HOW I travel. This is what led me to start GLOWADARKWAH, creating and designing travel accessories to help make each journey functional without compromising on style.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently work as a Project Manager at a small firm but prior to that I worked for an investment firm for 2 years right after graduating from college. I am still in a place where I am growing professionally and in my career but it is not for the weak to manage a full time business and work a 9-5. One of the biggest things I have learned on this journey is that it is important to stay and be diligent about building your own legacy. It’s good to be a professional and help someone else build their dreams but you have to consistently ask yourself, “What am I doing for myself?”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am all about taking a good trip to reset myself and eating a good meal! And sometimes traveling does not always mean going out of the country and spending thousands of dollars, it sometimes means grabbing friends heading to NYC by train, and creating fun memories along the way.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God deserves absolutely all the credit in my ongoing success story with my business. The amazing thing about being a believer in Jesus Christ is the hope, assurance and guidance He comes with. Just 5 years ago I heard the Holy Spirit tell me I would be a business owner but I didn’t think so then. But as time went on He made the path clearer and clearer, connecting me to the right people, bringing the help etc.

Also a HUGE shoutout to my church community, Kingdom Full tabernacle led by Apostle Dominic & Prophetess Lesley Osei. The teachings and being under this ministry has continuously shaped me into the business owner I am today.
