We had the good fortune of connecting with Missy Redding and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Missy, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
This is a hard one because it’s hard to have work/life balance when you own your own business. Finding the right people, who love what you do like you do, is honestly so hard to find. You have to find two or 3 or 4 of YOU and that doesn’t happen very often. That is the key, though, finding the right employees to help you find your work/life balance.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hard hard work is why I am here today. When it felt like too much, I pushed harder. I met with more people, I handed out more business cards, I went to more social meetings to network. Our family owned business is very successful. We are a totally referral business. We are now 100% referral. We have clients we have had for years. They are like our family. Our clients pets are truly like family to us. WE are different in that regard because we truly get to know our clients, our clients pets. Building the business was not easy but it was worth it. Anything that has you put your blood, sweat and tears into it must be worth it!!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I think we would go to Klyde Warren Park to walk the dogs. We would take a bike ride around White Rock Lake. We would probably go have some cool pictures made around White Rock Lake with some scenery in the background. Head to a great taco joint for a cold beer and a few tacos. Deep Ellum would be a place that we headed several time in our week together. There is so much to do there. Deep Ellum art company would be one of our night out nights. We would have a few drinks and swoon over the art in the foyer there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband allowed me to leave the corporate world and start my own thing. My love and involvement and ownership of a dog rescue in our local community is the reason I wanted it to be about pets. Animals in general have always had my heart. Helping pets in the community by training them, sitting for them and building a business because of them was something that I knew I wanted. In our local community, there were so many pet care service businesses but we knew we were going to be something special because of our family values, our core morals for animals and our experiences with pets. Jeff Redding is my person and my husband. He always supports my crazy and not so crazy decisions and wants. He is the reason I have a successful business today.
