We had the good fortune of connecting with Krandon Knighten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krandon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When we started this business, we thought about bringing the Tea culture to our community in a broader sense – in the most sophisticated way we knew how. Tea has always been an upscale beverage, and we wanted to advance the establishment culture to make it more relatable to a modern audience.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Nothin But A Tea Thang (TM) apart from other tea companies is that we are on the forefront of bringing tea to the urban table and cup.

We are most proud of having a family business that is making an impact on the tea industry. We have a high-level focus on bringing our delicious tea blends to every American. We are revolutionizing what teatime looks like and hacking the stereotypical image of a tea consumer.

We got to our current level of success through consistency. We noticed that doing something great one time is cool but doing it over and over again has helped us improve. We are gradually finding our tribe and being consistent has created a lane for us – us alone.

Additionally, having excellent customer service is truly integral to our success. Along the way we’ve learned that having returned, satisfied customers are a huge factor when building a brand. Also, my brother and I have wonderful ways to engage with each customer. This has led to creating new tea enthusiasts that are looking for more out of the tea community.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our parents, Muriel and Randolph Knighten, are our greatest inspiration. They have established a family heritage of entrepreneurship. They both earned their degrees from Southern University and opened their own convenience store in our hometown in Baker, LA. We have the same flair for business as they do, and we couldn’t be happier to have acquired that gene.
