Meet Sebastián Haros | Trumpet player

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sebastián Haros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sebastián, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that in order to have some level of success in life you need to risk. People who don’t risk can’t truly reach their full potential. I moved out of my house at 16 to go and attend the Interlochen Arts Academy which was across the country. Going to this school has given me the opportunity to audition and get accepted into the countries top music schools like Juilliard,NEC,Colburn,Vanderbilt,MSM, and Curtis.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up around music, my grandpa had a folk band where he would play Latin music so I’ve always been around some kind of music. I chose to follow the classical route and so many trumpet players sometimes lack soul when playing “classical music” and the one thing I feel that I can bring into all styles that I play is my own voice. All the things I’ve been surrounded by have influenced the way I make my voice on the trumpet heard and I hope that comes through no matter the style.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Anyone that comes to Dallas has to visit our arts district. I don’t think people realize how beautiful the city of Dallas is. I also think that everyone should watch the Dallas symphony live as they are an amazing orchestra. Everyone should also try some mexican food and BBQ in town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
