Meet Chip Davis | Artist, Performer, Guitarist-Singer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chip Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chip, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music has always been a passion of mine, specifically the guitar, from a young age. But I didn’t truly commit to it until after my daughters were grown. Looking back on it, it seems like music pursued me. While I raised my family, I worked in the financial services industry, but always had musical projects on the side. One being a classic rock band that performed in prisons around Texas.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I perform live music around the DFW metroplex at venues such as restaurants, country clubs, wineries, breweries, night clubs, and private parties. Providing a variety of musical styles, from the 50’s to current, we can adapt to any situation. I sing and player guitar solo, with duos, trios, up to a full band. I’m excited our versatility helps us adapt to most musical requests at a reasonable cost. The journey has had its challenges. To begin with, I had to overcome extreme shyness and fear of public speaking. This has given me a platform to share and encourage others to persevere.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
1. Flying saucer at the Lake (Ray Hubbard). Great atmosphere, excellent food, wonderful staff, and, of course, a lot of beer. 2. Tommy Katona and Texas Flood. Must see tribute band to the late Stevie Ray Vaughan.
3. AT&T Stadium. Love them or hate them, the Dallas Cowboys Homefield is a fun tour.
4. Dallas Arboretum and botanical Garden. Are you slow stroll through nature‘s beauty, then dinner across the street at the Smoky Rose on their beautiful patio.
5. Fort Worth Stockyards. Great entertainment district.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my parents, Jim And Virginia, for all the support they have given me through the years. They bought me my first guitar and lessons, and encouraged my participation in music through church and school. Also, to all the teachers, friends, and family that saw something unique in me and helped me to pursue my passion. Last but not least, to my wife Nancyjo, I thank her for your love and support; for believing in me. I could not do this without her.
