We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Foley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had taken some plans to a manager that included website updates, articles, video (exercise library content) for the company. I had spent several months preparing that content and formulating the presentation approach, only to be shut down, hard. He was abruptly and totally dismissive to the input, and said we “just can’t handle any more additional responsibilities.” I was frustrated, but I knew I wasn’t about to waste all that work, so when I got home, I told my wife it was time to start a side hustle.

We named the business Rude Rock, in honor of our two beloved dogs- Rudy & Rocky. And especially since we sadly lost Rocky back in 2020, what was initially intended to just be something different, has grown into a deeply sentimental meaning.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well truth be told for it started out rough for me. I wasn’t a good student and quite frankly a degenerate in most aspects of life. But after a deep reflection and correction period, I finally got my act together. I was kicked out of school for academic ineligibility, but was able to get a personal training certification that would at least allow me to work in the field. I was able to land a job at a commercial fitness facility, One Life, and things rapidly accelerated from there.

I was working tirelessly, and I know this is cliche to say, but I really did push myself. For about 4 years I sustained a pattern of not sleeping 2-3 nights per week, and I loved that shit. Pulling all nighters and just studying relentlessly trying to fill the void of education and knowledge that I wasted in college. Nicole quickly became a significant factor and influence, and she’s who I truly attribute my turnaround to. Without question I’m not doing anything or achieving anything I’ve accomplished in the last decade without her.

My time at VHP became instrumental. I was able to work with high level individuals (Navy SEAL/Special Warfare) who were battling significant injuries and challenges. The work setting there offered me a ton of coaching hours (exposure) and ability to think freely (skill). That has since developed into a particular specialty of working with individuals suffering from chronic pain and complex or debilitating injury.

My primary focus now, through this merger with Bachik Methods, has formed into something far more profound than I ever could have envisioned. Our move to DFW has proved instrumental through this partnership, and we are proud to announce a new program launching in April- The Athlete Restoration Project. This program will be primarily dedicated to retired professional athletes, by providing them autonomy and direction on how to optimize their physical health and wellness. Secondarily, this program will also include individuals battling pain or injury, and athlete return to play.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I’ll be honest I’m not much of a social person at all haha. If not hanging out with our daughter, I spend most of my time at home either in the office or in our home gym putting content together. But I will say this much, Rudy’s is hands-down the best BBQ, not even sure how that’s debated. Also, What-a-burger is an atrocity, shame on people for even recommending that garbage.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have had an abundance of support over the years from far more people than I could list off here. Of course, it does start with our families, who from all ends have been tremendously supportive of our path. We’ve honestly been beneficiaries of introduction and opportunity. From the jump at our first gym One Life Fitness (where Danny & Nicole met), we were also introduced to our primary business partner, Jeremy Aspa. Danny was afforded a profound opportunity through his work at Virginia High Performance, where he met several individuals who have helped shape where he is today.

As of more recently, since recently relocating to the DFW area, the Rude Rock team has merged with a local facility Bachik Methods. Bachik methods, established by Ryan and Kendell Bachik, has been renowned for their work with the neuro-adaptive population (severe spinal cord/head injury) for several years, and we are looking to expand that target population to include retired professional athletes and individuals battling pain and injury.
