We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit! Everyone that knows me calls me a Jackie of all trades. I have always liked to master different things. I love the hustle and the idea of creating something for my family to benefit from. I’ve started a few ventures. The photo booth business came up when I talked to my mom about it. One of our very last printed pictures together was at a photobooth! My sister had one for her wedding and the entire party loved it. So many of us grab our phones and try to keep those digital images forever, but realizing that actually pictures keep memories forever even after you lose someone made me really jump out on faith and pursue this business. I am keeping that picture of my mama until the end. I want everyone to cherish happy moments and take something from it. When you forget the pictures will remind you. I’ve started this venture as a way to bring people memories that can last forever. Photos capture priceless moments and that’s what matters. That’s what we’re here for!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from others is my willingness to keep going, to teach others and to give back and pour into another entrepreneur. I’m still going! I still have two other businesses. The sex toy business always kicks off every February! I’m ready. I help host and plan events for small business owners as well. There’s a lot on this plate and I am figuring out what exactly I want to keep on it right now. I wasn’t taught anything I do, I didn’t have guidance. I just started to do something and it worked out a bit. I think the hardest thing is doing something with no guidance. I just persevere and I keep going. I get sad, but then I stand up!
I want everyone who reads this to know that whatever it is that they want, focus on it. Take one step at a time and educate themselves to do things right. If there are any mentors in your life take in that knowledge!
My business is just now taking off. My vision is still in focus. When you see me, yes I’m versatile. When you see Honey Girl Party Co., know that it comes from heartache and love. Sometimes, the small things will make the most sense in the long run. Pictures speak a thousand words. They bring our loved ones together. They make an event even more special. That physical piece will make all the difference.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A full weeks vacation?! I like art and activities, drinking and exhibits. I think we could figure something out.

Day 1: Mondays always stress me out. Chelsea’s Corner for brunch is nice. Mimosas on me, relax a little. Let’s go throw axes or play mini golf. The Viking Axe Place in Grand Prairie was cool. I’m a little bit of a tomboy. We can work up an appetite then go eat the best Thai food out here at Bangkok City Thai on Bryan.

Day 2: We can start off with breakfast like, First Watch or the Yolk downtown. Hit Deep Ellum during the day to take selfies and look at all the graffiti. I have done this more than a few times. I love street art. My favorite artist is Banksy. There’s bars, and food everywhere. A few to name is Oni Ramen, Serious Pizza, I enjoyed going to Ebb and Flow too.

Day 3: West Dallas has become a favorite stop. My mom and I a couple hours going to almost every little place. The cake bar, the chocolatier shop, the Italian restaurant on the corner… Fantastic. Across from these spots is the Hines bridge I like to walk along.,” There’s a little park for kids over there. Great for pictures. A cool hidden spot is the Fabrication yard not too far. MY FAVORITE artsy area out here so far.

Day 4: Addison where I am living is next. I literally stay right by entertainment. Movies, VR, RESTAURANTS, and BARS everywhere. I really like Cane Rosso pizza. A good first stop. We could play some pool at the Hideaway and watch the older crowd go crazy. Afterwards a few places for drinks; maybe Stirr.

Day 5: WEEKEND WE’RE HERE! I feel like Fridays are wind down days. Fresh air with the family. Most of us are parents. Arcades are a no brainer. Anything that can get us pumping or just the kids ultimately works. Chicken n Pickle looks promising (still haven’t stepped a foot in there.) in Grand Prairie for the win. It’s in the middle of a few fun places too. I like options.

Day 6: PARTY TIME? The first thing I think of is Tipsy Alchemist. I don’t care to go out anymore unless I know it’s going to be fun. It really has been my favorite experience in the past few years as far as a club! It was memorable. So let’s all go have dinner an hour or so, something close by. On the Border maybe. My best-friend has helped me find my love for Tex-Mex as an adult. Hydrate! The  go try a max of 4 drinks. Then let the DJ move you until the club closes. Uber responsibly.

Day 7: GET READY FOR NEXT WEEK! Doing nothing but laundry, drinks and pj’s at the house is the only thing I can agree with. Friends can come play board games or card, food and play the speaker loud. Perfect ending.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my family! My mother is the reason I decided to step into this business! I literally owe it to her. My friend Breona, cousin Brooke and my sister Crystal. have always been encouraging of whatever I did or decided to do. When I felt like something wasn’t working, they would find every silver lining. I need that! From coming to see me at my pop up shops, to brainstorming and actually taking over my spot when I need it. I love them! Last but not least, Cody who made sure my first Photo Booth event was taken care of! Love you all.
