We had the good fortune of connecting with Char Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Char, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The start of my business came from recognizing the need for assistance in the community. Being homeless when I first moved to the DFW area, I know first hand how it feels to feel helpless and because of your situation you are made to feel less than. I always wanted to be in a position to give back and let people know regardless of what you are going through, you are worthy and you are heard.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I’m most proud of is my personal growth and allowing myself to be more vulnerable. I have never been a person who asks for help and I’ve always been determined to figure everything out on my own. Being vulnerable allowed for me to reach out to people and be open about what it was I needed business-wise and because of that I made connections with amazing people. Getting to this point in my business has not been easy at all. For a while I was constantly jumping over hurdles and almost gave up because it was so difficult to just get to the next step. Along the way I learned to believe in my vision and in myself. The best advice I was given is “you dont need money to start a business, you just need a vision”. I want the world to know that I’m coming and I’m bringing more people with me who have a dream, a plan and they are determined to make a difference in the community and in the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friend to Deep Ellum. The vibe is amazing and the bars and restaurants are always a mood. I would also go to the Reunion Tower for the paint and sip they host there. Downtown Dallas has some amazing museums and we would visit the aquarium. Knowing my friends we would end up at a local daquiri shop and one of the many clubs or lounges in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out Irene Lane. She has been a beacon of light and guidance in my journey and without her I wouldn’t be here in this position.
