We had the good fortune of connecting with Brock Little and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brock, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m a native of Wichita, Kansas, who moved to Dallas by way of Atlanta in 2005. I was raised in a single-parent household where my mother worked extremely hard to make sure her five children knew what it meant to work hard and to use their God-given gifts and talents. Being raised to fear God and not man helped shape my future.
At a young age, my mother took notice of my enjoyment of singing and music. All I knew was music. My mom took notice of my love for singing, so she bought me a karaoke machine and piano when I was 8 to help cultivate my desire to become a singer. I was encouraged often by my family to sing at my local church, and that I did. I remember my mother having my brother and I sing, “Let us break bread together on our knees,” and although my brother wasn’t really a singer, he’d be right there singing his heart out. My brother really didn’t take to singing, but I did. It was because of the exposure and the push that my mother gave me that allowed me to thrive in what I get to do today. Had I not been encouraged, supported,or pushed, I don’t know if I’d still have the passion for singing as much as I do today.
Fast forward to now, I’ve had the privilege of singing background for many artists, studio work, taking part in musicals, and currently a worship leader for a non-denominational church in Far North Dallas, TX.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a higher education professional for a community college in Dallas, TX, where I serve a certain population of students to ensure they meet their educational goals and aspirations. Also, I’m a recording artist, background vocalist, life coach, and worship leader. Toggling between any of these roles on any given day keeps me pretty busy.
I’m very passionate about serving others and my community. I love seeing people get it, and the fact that I get to do ministry every day and showcase God’s love is simply amazing! With that being said, I’ve had the opportunity to serve alongside Jubilee Hall, where I’ve been afforded the opportunity to go into different nursing homes across the metroplex and sing/minister to their residents. Sheer joy!
Lastly, I am most proud and excited about my new upcoming single release, Spring 2023, titled Greatly to be Praised. This particular project speaks to those with life challenges and adversity. I believe it also speaks to the intentionality of a person’s belief in God, and that everything we need can be found in Him.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting, I would take them to a few local restaurants, likeYardbird (for my chicken connoisseurs), Haywire, and Maple Bacon. We’d venture out to the bowling alley, Bowl & Barrel, Daddy Rabbits for some karaoke, and out far north Dallas for some paintball.
I love outdoors but also the artistic areas of Dallas, so I would introduce them to the Bishop Arts/ Deep Ellum areas. Also, I love the water shows that Kylde Warren Park has, so I will definitely expose them to that as well!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate a shout-out to my mother and family who have supported me throughout my life, my friends who have stayed with me through life’s cycles and have loved me in spite of, and to the Dmarc Management Inc. I am blessed to have a well-rounded community of people around me.
