We had the good fortune of connecting with J Nimo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well I started working under multiple people before I decided to go out on my own with owning my own business. I started a few businesses as a partnership with others ideas. That wasn’t as successful as something that you’re genuinely passionate about. That doesn’t feel like a job but it’s on your mind 24/7 from sun up to sun down that you enjoy putting in endless hours doing it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
From a young age I had to make a way for myself financially. Through hardships and trials, I had to make a way for myself to succeed in life as a man. When the passion for this craft and the betterment of these kids became deeper than the money, I knew I was where I was supposed to be. When you’re dealing with young adults, it’s important to both address and work through mental obstacles as well as emotional. As coaches, we’re here to advise and guide them through every day challenges. We aim to foster independent thinking as well as sharing our own personal walks so they can learn from our mistakes and our wins. We want to take the core values of our program and help them apply them to their every day life as much as possible. Self worth is huge in this transitional period of young adulthood. We named our gym faith over fear because that’s how we believe and operate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve been into holistic wellness and I’ve been vegan curious for a while and luckily dallas has a lot of those things to offer in this space. I would take them to a place like Flower Child to try some of the things on the menu then try to plan some wellness treatments for them or for us to experience together. Our afternoons would be spent at NTG with the kids. The nightlife in Dallas has a lot to offer as well. Everything from loud clubs to more sophisticated Lounges and dinner clubs.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
