We had the good fortune of connecting with Timmy Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Timmy, why did you pursue a creative career?
The way I see it, everyone is creative, and you do not have to be an artist to have a creative mind. I use my creativity to create films and stories, and to have each film I create put with the most passion and care. As founder and creator of SMIBB Productions I have tried to push our boundaries with our stories and the genres that set the tone and themes with. As a kid I always loved films, but never knew why. It could of been the amazing writing or the cool visual effects, but with every film I could fondly remember it was a feeling or an emotion evoked. Knowing now that every one of those films were directors and producers and writers and actors who were dedicated to craft near perfect entertainment, that was something to inspire to. Not every film can be the “Godfather” or “Inception” but making what I love and pouring my heart and soul, working non stop to create something truly unique is what I strive for, anyone can.

What should our readers know about your business?
SMIBB Productions started out as just a simple YouTube channel with a few sketches and little animations we just loved to do with friends. For awhile it was fun, but at a certain point, we wanted to make real films, and at first like any beginning film maker would do is pick up and a camera and started filming. In the long run it was apparent we needed to be really thinking what is a film? All we were ever doing is just filming with a loose plot and characters without goals and themes and having set ups and pay offs that were satisfying, having audience investment. Our first film series was called “Blanket Man” our own take on the super hero genre, but without a script or direction, they became a random series of events than actual superhero films. Soon after, we took a film class at our school, where everyone got to make their own Urban Legend film and compete of which film wins by the end of the week. After we took the class a few times with me and my close friends (who also worked on other films at the time) we had the genius idea of making every film connected in a cinematic universe. Now a days, it took off and become our most popular series. What set us apart thou and put us on the map was that we were able to craft complex stories, with meaningful characters, have themes and rich stories, putting money and production and crazy effects and promoting and eventually even creating our own soundtracks and original music. As we still expanding our universe and having new fresh ideas of people who really care about the craft, we also still strive on other genres and mediums as well. Last year we came out with an animated pilot called “Mania: The Animated Series” completed animated and voice acted by talented individuals such as John Paul Cargille & Kailey Mazur. More recently we have also dropped a new pilot “Fernando: Criminal Confections” written and directed by my good friend John Ferguson, a brilliant mind and one of most popular new shows. We are striving for true originality, to set ourselves apart, creating new and fresh stories with original music. We don’t just to make what we wanna make, but to create outreach and bring people together, and have every idea and put creative minds together. We have created a community of talented individuals expressing what they want to make. That is the future for SMIBB Productions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best places in Kenosha have to be Big Star and Kaisers, best spots for quality Wisconsin eating in my opinion. The best hang out spots are defiantly by the pier and the museums, the whole downtown is very lively and overall a great time, and for any film makers, just great spots to film and meet some interesting people, Outside the city, always traveling down to Gurnee Mills area, tons of fun shops and amazing restaurants, can never go wrong with Porticos, one of my favorite restaurants ever!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There has been so many people in my life that have brought me to where I am now, I want to give a huge shout out to a dear friend and an amazing mentor JTV Entertainment, who I have been working close with this past couple years, and has helped me grow and learn more not just in video and production, but just in life and being a good person. I also wanna give a shout out to all the people who have worked close with me in creating the films we have made these past 5+ years, Roane Borger, John Ferguson, Calan Schultz, Kailey Mazur, Cameron D’Amore, Michael Underwood and John Gransee.
