We had the good fortune of connecting with Shika Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shika, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was going through the motions about whether to start my own business or just work in the beauty industry field. I thought it just might be more lucrative to start my own business and be my own boss.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from everyone else in the industry is that I have a great personality I am a people person and I make everyone feel really good about themselves I like to encourage my clients and other people that’s around me or in my inner circle to encourage them to do better make them feel better about themselves. It was not easy getting to where I am today it was a long road. I had to go to school for countless hours I worked a number of jobs that was not in my career. I have learned a lot of lessons along the way on how to have my own business how to run my own business and how to be successful in my business. Covid-19 came along and downsize my business tremendously but that was one big hurdle that I had to get over. Thanks to my loyal clients that returned after the pandemic. I would like the world to know that Ms. Shika Stylez will always be a unique experience that no one else can give. I always want to give my clients the best experience in a salon that they can receive and make them have a different attitude when they walk out of my salon.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best places to go while you are visiting Dallas, is downtown Dallas the whole atmosphere is a vibe!! From the music, food, and scenery!! Also check out the Bishop Arts District you will enjoy a lot of all the different arts and entertainment there as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband for his love, encouragement, and support. Melva Williams Owner Operator of Something Special Beauty Salon for support, mentorship, and sisterhood.
