We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantel Edley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chantel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic or creative career to enhance the inner beauty of every client that sits in my chair. Being in this field of enhancing people’s confidence, relationship , and understanding how to take care of themselves. There are so many people in the world that can’t see their outward beauty because of the lack of confidence inward . So when clients sits in the chair I make sure to let them have their time to talk, cry , and maybe sleep . Sometimes people need to take a break and just release whatever they are holding inside . So having this creative outlet let’s me express my creative side and make it easy for clients to relax with me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

What sets me apart is from others, I like to educate my clients about how to take care of their hair . I don’t just do their hair to just make money I want them to know what can help their hair to thrive .

The proudest moment is when I finished a client’s extension and all she could do was cry. I thought I did something wrong. But she reassured me that I made her feel like herself she had covid twice and she was dealing with hairloss.

I got to where I am now with dedication ,determination , and being down to earth . I continue to make sure that I am myself with everyone .

The lesson I learned over the time in my profession , is too step (stop) and just do it. Sometimes you are afraid of what might happen. Just get it done .

My Brand ChanJen is about (having a space where ) everyone (is) learning , young or old , Let’s get together and Enhance your beauty inward or outward. I am a loving christian wife , mother and educator that wants everyone to win.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first spot that we will go to is Sundance Square in Fort Worth , I love how they have the movie theatre and restaurants all in one area . Then we would go to (Shops at )Clear Fork out door mall to shop and the have some nice picture spots. speaking of pictures, I would also recommend the North Fort Worth arts District. They have some amazing photo spots .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To think about Who inspired me to go on the journey of hairdressing . One of my best friends inspired me to start doing hair, when I was younger she was always the one doing everyone’s hair . We were like 10yrs old trying to style hair . The way I would feel after getting my hair done was great , I would see how our friends felt after getting their hair done with the Cousar’s (best friend maiden name ). Whenever she finished my hair , I said to myself I can do this to myself , and it gave me the confidence to try it out my hair , my whole family hair. Then I asked my mom to teach me how to braid and after that I wanted to know more about how to do hair and perfect it . Throughout my journey in hairdressing I have been influenced by cosmetology school friends and how we pushed each other to get through school and start our journey. But the main person that has been pushing me currently is My husband . He tells me all the time , you are better than what you think you can do. He tells me don’t limit myself .
