We had the good fortune of connecting with Chino Lucci and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chino, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was what could I offer to the people that would kind of stand out from the norm. What is something I could call mine that could stand the test of time and bring wealth for generations after me.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Poseidon’s Neptune. It’s unisex and natural skincare brand for all skin types. I have everything from body washes, cremes, facial products, supplements, and I have more on the way! I got here by a lot of trial and error. A lot of wins and lessons. You have to learn how to win, just as much as you have to learn how to bounce back from a loss. Balance. Resilience brought me here. Taking accountability from my own shortcomings, learning from others, growing and applying the things I’ve learned on this long and wild journey. Nothing was ever easy. From a child I was groomed to be independent, strong, dependable, and responsible. I had to pick up these things alot earlier than the average person would have. I have learned to love and meet people where they are at. The differences between friends and associates. Trust people to be who they are. I’ve learned about patience and having control over your emotions. Also, everything you have been given can be taken away, so take nothing or nobody for granted. Genuine people are very rare so treat them as such. I’ve learned business will always be risk and reward and full of obstacles. It’s all about how bad do you want it, how prepared are you to face what’s to come. Do you have the mental fortitude to persevere and prevail, or do you fold easily? What are the sacrifices you are willing to make? These are things that I learned along the way. I’m a praying and reading man when it comes to God. And I had to go to him in order to see a glimpse of what my purpose looks like. I always had an idea or thought, but never actually sure. But the closer I got, the more the vision became quite clear. I had to go in that lonely desert by myself to fortify my spirit, mind, and body to be able to withstand. A lot of people are scared to do that. But it’s a must. Solitude. This story is about becoming who you always were inside, whether you knew it or not. Time is a gift and very precious. Make the best use of it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite places used to be Deep Ellum, then it was Uptown.. but now there are so many dope spots in the city to enjoy besides going to a club it’s hard to pick one. A dope sports bar like Longhorn Icehouse would be cool. Eat good and watch sports, and good music just vibe out. There’s quite a few of them too. I like the rooftop scene you can take a lady acquaintance or what not, or you and the homies could socialize. Light shopping at a pop up event is pretty cool. Concert/events are always happening. There is a new spot in Deep Ellum called “Federales” I just recently visited and the food and vibe was awesome. I’d definitely look at that some more. There is always something to do. But also we for sure gotta get a word in and give God some time so he can give us some back. Can’t forget about that! But all in all, it don’t matter where you hang out or go, as long as you with good people you can have fun and share those energies anywhere. Y’all can make it enjoyable no matter what the circumstances. I’ve had the most fun with the dopest people in some of the weakest overhyped spots lol. It be like that sometimes.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Everybody in my immediate circle, my wise counsel who has supported me unconditionally.
