So many of the folks we work with have multidimensional stories. They often aren’t just working on a single project, business or mission – instead they are often involved in so many things all at once and so we often wonder about what they themselves hope their legacy will be about. We’ve shared some of their responses with you below.
Eden Collins | Artist and Educator
I want my legacy to be one of embracing the unknown and acting courageously. I remember my parents telling me as a young girl that anything worth doing will always be a little bit scary. Following the status quo doesn’t interest me, and I think most people who do follow it do so because they are anxious to break from the mold. Jumping into the void of the unknown and doing things differently is scary, but it’s simultaneously thrilling. My goal is to not only be someone who acts with courage, but to imbue that same confidence in others. I have a motto with my students that we should “fail spectacularly!” What I mean by that is failure is a natural part of learning, but rather than fearing failure, let’s embrace it fully. Sarah Smart | Owner of a Residential and commercial holistic cleaning company
I am actually living out my Nanas legacy. She owned a cleaning company for 35 years . Her and my papa raised me for most of my younger childhood years. She used to take me to Make Ready cleanings at Apartments when I was still in a walker. Once I got old enough she taught me how to professionally clean. I Intern, implemented everything she taught me into Smart Cleaning across the board. . When I started Smart Cleaning it was more for extra money outside of my full time job, as I was a single Mom raising 9 kids , yes I said 9 and there is more then that all together. The one thing I want people to remember about me is that I did this for all Of my children.. like my Nana, I teach them everything that I can, sometimes they teach me new tricks. Being in the service industry they gain great social skills as we are in different types of environment on a regular basis. It also teaches them great work, ethics, manners, how to serve people humbly and make good money doing it. Smart Cleaning has been up and running for 11 years in the state of Texas and Oklahoma. This last year we expanded to the East Coast of Florida based out of Jacksonville and they’re also servicing the southern part of Georgia. Most recently this year adding a new location in Chattanooga Tennessee. We perform holistic, residential and commercial cleaning. Of all kinds.
