Risks are fun! And risk taking is a very essential part of the creative process in general. For me, the biggest risks I took were the others shrouded in uncertainty. There have many instances where I have taken a risk for the betterment of my career. An example would be my move to New York City. I was very nervous and anxious to make the move, and it had seemed like just a dream for the longest until I took the leap of faith. Risk has been the driving force behind every major decision in my life, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. From starting out on what college I was going to attend to my first big city move after graduating, it was all a risk. When I was stuck in corporate America making decent money but feeling completely unfulfilled, I took the biggest risk of all—I chose passion over security. I started posting daily on social media about fitness, healthy recipes, and living a balanced lifestyle, even when I was getting barely any likes and putting myself out there for potential judgment. Generally, I’m risk-averse: I don’t trust rollercoasters; Jumping out of a plane for fun isn’t for me; My coffee order has stayed the same for years; I’m a big fan of seatbelts.
But when it comes to my work with the non-profit we started, the only way we separate our fundraisers from others is by taking risks. We’re dedicated to the concept of funlanthropy: We host events that are ridiculously fun and also greatly benefit our work for MS research. Read More>>

Taking risks is essential for growth. In an artistic career, it’s especially important not to shy away from experimenting with different styles and techniques to bring your vision to life. Risk-taking has opened many doors for me—creatively and professionally. I always remind myself: you’ll never know unless you try.
