The Coronavirus has given many us an opportunity to pause and think about life, our purpose, and even the right work life balance. What’s your perspective and has it changed over time?

In my experience, work life balance is essential to living a healthy lifestyle. I’ve always had a very strong work ethic, almost too strong, and when I came up with personal or business goals, I did whatever I needed to do in order to reach those goals in a timely manner. Don’t get me wrong, reaching said goals was definitely exhilarating and building up the “life resume” was what motivated me the most, however I eventually realized that reaching goals more quickly meant I was compromising my emotional and physical wellbeing. Great question! I’m a tech consultant in my day job and for years I’ve been so used to balancing multiple projects and clients through 6-12 month contract terms. Being a franchise owner has changed my entire life. I embarked on the experience to change lives and as a means to an end of my corporate struggle. However, I had no idea of how much this experience would change me! Over the last year, I’ve cut down on the corporate work more and more. Work life balance is a myth. When I was striving for balance, I ended up frustrated and disappointed in myself. I try to remind myself what is important in my life and in my work. Then making decisions that fit within that framework. Being a mom, wife, sister, friend, daughter while at the same time being a photographer is not easy. In the spring of 2023, I even asked myself if I should continue. I continued in large part because I want my son to see work and striving and living and loving mixed all together. Read more>>
