We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Sublett and Candice Abel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly Sublett and Candice Abel, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Both of us have always really enjoyed hosting events and we especially liked adding a little flare to our parties, such as balloon garlands, it just gives the event an added “wow” factor.
We both agreed that the balloon garland trend was here to stay, and we thought that people would probably love to pay someone to make one for them, rather than DIYing it.
When we started out we were also focusing on doing party rentals, such as chairs and tables, however we quickly realized that the balloon garlands were are our most popular item, and we have shifted our business to match the garland demand!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
First off, we both love talking to people and hearing what theme they have chosen for their event, and how we can help them bring that theme to life through our garlands. It has been so fun to see how many different directions someone can go with say, a child’s birthday party – we have actually never repeated the exact same garland!
Over time we decided that we wanted to start playing around with different textures and other ways that we could add to the theme of a garland. One way that we have recently been doing this is through adding various sizes and shapes of honeycombs to our garlands- our Valentines Heart honeycombs paired with small latex hearts turned out really well.
One thing that we want people to know about Fiesta is that while we love doing the elaborate knock your socks off installations for big events, we also realize that not every event needs a huge garland. Some events might just need a “pop” of color on a door frame, and we really enjoy doing smaller garlands for porch pick ups for those occasions.
The biggest challenge, as it is with almost every new business, is getting your name out there and building a loyal client base. We have been around for 2 years now and we are now getting to see the fruits of our labor gain traction and it is so exciting to see!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So fun!
We both LOVE planning killer staycations in Fort Worth! Here are our top places to eat, drink and be merry:
1) Joe T. Garcia’s for dinner – I mean have you had their marg?!
2) Stockyards – a good walk around the stockyards, get yourself some boots and while you’re at it a drink at the White Elephant
3) Hotel Drover – A gorgeous/very Texas place to rest your head
4) Gemelle – A really fun girly place for drinks and dinner, if you are adventurous, you can even taste some rattlesnake!
5) Maria’s – Again, such a fun girly, but a guy could hang there too, place with amazing food and drinks
6) Press Cafe – That’s where you get your brunch on after a walk on the Trinity Trails
7) Crude Coffee Bar – Get your caffeine fix here!
8) Goat & Vine – A moody and wonderful new Italian restaurant
9) Tre Mogli – A great option for a big group outing with delicious shareable Italian dishes
10) Modern Art Museum – A good day activity is checking out the MAM
11) Botanical Gardens – Pack a pic nic and check out the gardens
12) Colonial Golf Tournament – Such a fun weekend where you can see all of the best golfers and roam the CC grounds with a mimosa in your hand
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to all of our friends and family that prior to starting FF (Fiesta in the Fort) have entrusted us to bring their parties to life, and given us the inspiration and support that we needed to start Fiesta!
Also, a huge shout out to both of our husbands who hold down the fort at home when we are out and about in Fort Worth adding garland flare.
