Meet Zoe Huynh | Event Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoe Huynh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zoe, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For me, design is more than just making something look beautiful. It has to be functional and intentional. I’ve always been drawn to aesthetics that serve a purpose, where every element is thoughtfully placed and carries intentions and purpose. I see creativity as a tool to solve problems and enhance experiences. That perspective shapes the way I approach my work, where the look and function go hand in hand to create something both visually compelling, meaningful and intentional.
Interestingly, I didn’t set out to be an event stylist. Growing up, I was drawn to the healthcare and research industry. I studied Dental Hygiene, thinking I would pursue a career in that field. But along the way, I realized that creativity isn’t limited to visual arts. Problem-solving, looking at things from different angles, and finding innovative solutions are all creative processes, whether in medicine, engineering, or design. That same approach of purpose-driven creativity is what I now bring into my work.
When I started my business, I noticed a gap in the industry, especially in modernizing cultural events like Vietnamese wedding tea ceremonies. Dallas is a diverse city with many couples wanting to honor their heritage while blending it with modern aesthetics. I wanted to create designs that don’t just look beautiful but also hold deep meaning; something that makes people feel seen, loved, and understood. To me, creativity doesn’t just belong in art galleries; it lives in celebrations, in the spaces where people come together, where emotions are felt, and stories are told. And that’s why I started event styling, to design experiences that are both beautiful and rich in meaning.
Every day, I feel grateful to do what I love, to use design not just to decorate, but to influence emotions, tell stories, and bring people together.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My event styling is modern, personalized, and detail-oriented, but beyond aesthetics, I focus on intentional and meaningful designs that bring people together. With a background in healthcare, I’ve learned that creativity isn’t just about visuals—it’s about problem-solving and understanding people’s needs. That mindset shapes how I approach every event.
What sets The Double Happiness Co. apart is our diverse clientele. Every love story is unique, and we take pride in blending traditions with a modern touch to create celebrations that feel authentic and deeply personal.
What excites me most is seeing people gather, celebrate, and create lifelong memories. Whether it’s a wedding, milestone event, or surprise proposal, knowing that my work plays a role in these meaningful moments is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud that I had the courage to start this journey and didn’t let my dream remain just words. Has it been challenging, with struggles, sweat, and tears? Absolutely. But if I hadn’t taken the leap, I know I would have regretted it.
Running a creative business isn’t just about making something beautiful—it requires understanding costs, managing inventory, and valuing your time and skills. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the price a client pays is never the amount you take home—expenses like storage, labor, transportation, and preparation add up quickly. Knowing your overhead and true cost per event is key to sustainable pricing—not everyone will understand that, and that’s okay. Additionally, while people only see us at setup and takedown, they don’t see the countless hours spent planning, packing, and cleaning up afterward. The real work starts long before the event and continues long after it ends.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for the weekend, I’d take them on a food and culture-filled adventure around Dallas. We’d start Saturday with pastries from La Casita Bakeshop in Richardson or a classic Vietnamese banh mi from Quoc Bao Bakery in Garland. We’d explore Carrollton K-Town for unique shops and cafés, followed by a stop at either Cali Saigon Mall or Asia Times Square in Grand Prairie. For dinner, we’d go old-school with burgers from Del’s Charcoal Burgers in Richardson.
Sunday would start with a peaceful walk through The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden, followed by a picnic at Rockledge Park in Grapevine, enjoying the lakeside views. We’d wrap up the trip with creative Asian drinks from The Boba Plug near Fair Park—a must-visit for their fun, innovative flavors. This mix of great food, cultural experiences, and nature is my perfect way to show someone the best of Dallas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have shaped my journey, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. My mom was my source of strength, love, and hope throughout my childhood. She passed away from cancer in 2021 when I was 24, and while I miss her every day, I know the values she instilled in me – kindness, resilience, and hard work – continue to guide me in everything I do. Losing her made me realize how precious time is and gave me the courage to choose a path that brings me joy and fulfillment.
When I took the leap into event styling, I knew it meant stepping away from financial certainty, but I also knew that creating meaningful, beautiful experiences for others was something I was deeply passionate about. My husband has been my greatest supporter through it all, not only standing by me in this decision but also becoming an integral part of The Double Happiness Co. We are a true husband-and-wife team, and I love that we get to build this together. More than just working alongside each other, we push and encourage one another to grow, to be better – both in our work and as people.
I also want to give a special shoutout to Allison from All Walls Events, an incredibly talented event coordinator. We first met through a Facebook wedding group and quickly realized how well we worked together. She is someone I deeply respect, not only for her dedication and expertise but for the way she genuinely cares about making every event the best it can be. I always know that when we collaborate, our clients will be taken care of, and over time, she has become more than a trusted colleague; she is a true friend.
Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to my incredible team, the people who are there at the warehouse, at loading the truck before sunrise, and at tear-downs long after the event is over, handling social media and creating content so we can be more approachable to our audience. The work they do goes beyond what a paycheck can measure. Their dedication, work ethic, and belief in what we create together mean everything to me. I see their effort, and I don’t take it for granted for a single moment.
Building a business is never a solo journey, and I am beyond grateful for the people who have poured their time, effort, and heart into this with me.
