We had the good fortune of connecting with Zaravia Loyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zaravia, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Dallas, Texas. Growing up I saw my parents working their jobs but on the side doing what they loved. My father is an artist so my entire childhood I would watch him create his art and my mother was always on the go, working, while earning her masters then coming home and cooking dinner, doing homework, and helping with my homework. It was so inspiring to see. I’ve always been super creative and saw the beauty in things so I just started taking pictures with my phone at some point, I’d always be drawing, but I did it as a hobby, I didn’t think I could have a career doing what I loved. Right now being able to be a mom full time but still chase my dreams is important to me. Having my children made my dream blossom into taking a chance to pursue my dreams and ideas and watch it blossom.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the design aspect I create custom logos for businesses and illustrations for all occasions. On the photography side for a most of my career I did family portraits, couples, and newborn but lately I’ve been shifting into the wedding industry. I love LOVE and I get to have more artistic freedom with my photos while capturing the biggest day in most peoples lives. I get to create a story while capturing memories. I’m into the details. The decor, the jewelry, the dress, I’m going to catch it all but the way I see it. I would describe my style as controlled candid, I love earthy warm tones but stay true to tone as well. I’m an extrovert and love to laugh so whenever I work with my clients I like for them to have an experience. Bonding with whoever I work with helps us both to relax and enjoy our time together and get great shots. As a mom, and a military wife who’s building their business, I STAY BUSY haha. I just try to be my most authentic self, and bring light into people’s lives.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly I don’t have a go to spot. I’m a HUGE FOODIE though so I like to try new places. We’re in Texas so you’re bound to find some bomb Mexican food within miles from wherever you are. I’d say to for sure find a good food spot that gives you a view of the skyline. If you want some good soul food there’s Lolo’s Chicken and Waffles, BUT just be ready to take a nap after you eat because it will send you into a food coma. There’s endless pizza options but recently I had Eno’s Pizza Tavern in the Bishop Arts District and me and my husband demolished an entire pizza. IT WAS SOOOO GOOOOOD. I have a whole list of new food places to try so I’ll have to keep y’all updated on the food spots.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I want to thank God for all the blessings and talents. Shoutout to my amazing husband for always believing in me, letting me talk off his ear with my ideas and for being supportive and always keeping it real ( even when I didn’t want to hear it ). My sister and my cousin for being my cheerleaders and keeping me motivated when I doubt myself. My parents for always praying over me, and showing me love and speaking words of wisdom in both business and life. Shoutout to my entire family and those supportive friends that I have, without those people in my corner I don’t think I would be where I am today.
