Meet Zachary Wilson | Founder and CEO of Elite Talent Advisors

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zachary Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zachary, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea of starting my own business came from many people’s belief that I could succeed after I was unexpectedly fired from my agency. As someone driven by performance, that event was crushing. I had built so many meaningful relationships and gained incredible experiences. I honestly thought I had lost it all.
Working in the agency world, I frequently witnessed transactional relationships, which I realized led to corporate shortcomings rather than true success. My vision for Elite Talent Advisors was to fill the void of a truly loving, caring and educated manager. I thrive on building relationships, being a creator’s biggest advocate and delivering reliable support, even when things aren’t perfect. My aim is not perfection, but to be a dedicated resource, helping creators build something we can all be proud of.
I want to be a resource for creators committed to success beyond just brand partnerships. While collaborations are valuable, I believe there is something even greater in building something that truly fuels their purpose and creates a sustainable way of life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others,
What sets us apart from others is that we’re looking to build longevity and something that sets us apart from the generic “influencer” they’re creators who are going outside the box to produce something that’s genuinely eye catching, entertaining, informative, producing, etc. We are building real relationships with brands and producing results that keep them satisfied.
what you are most proud of or excited about.
I am the most proud of the creators we represent and the work they put out. I am also so proud of brands we work with. I’ve spent three years really curating our list of creators who work really hard and genuinely want to produce results for their brand partners. Our brand partners are long-term partners who seek unique creators. They work with the same creators repetitively doing bigger and larger projects because of how well they produce organically.
How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy?
I got to where I am today because I was fired for really random reason. The year I was fired, I had opened up a repair studio with an influencer in NY with Uniqlo, I had spoken at a near by conference during SXSW educating and helping black creators get in front of brands for paid partnerships, and also won the MVP award that January. It was not easy, I lost a lot of confidence in myself and really felt like a failure. To this day, I thank my community and the people around who encouraged me to keep going. God remained incredibly faithful and continued to pursue me and my dreams and blessed us beyond our means and continues to do so. I couldn’t have asked for a more incredible journey although it’s been difficult.
If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
I over came the challenges by leaning into my confidence being poured into me by people around me including pass talent who left the agency within months of them firing me to come work with me. They believed in me that so much so
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
Gosh— I’ve learned so much. The biggest thing is to let go of the things I cannot control. Also, self improvement, in the world of relationships, is far more helpful than any finance, strategy, math class. It’s one of the best ways to improve your business skills. How you treat people really matters.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that it’s important to show up every day and give al that you can. Speak into existence about what you want into this world and go after it. Have faith in the things you cannot see and don’t be afraid to humble yourself and say you messed up. I struggle with that often but in reality it’s important to continue to be a student in this world. Surround yourself with people who make you a better person and listen to you. Those people should always push you in the right direction, even if it’s calling you out. Making changes in your life puts you in front of your competition.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Dallas for the first time. I would start with some core memories. One is driving around the Highland Park SMU area. That’s where I went to college and grew up going to football camps. I would take them to Highland Park Village to eat on night one. Those restaurants would be Honor Bar, Mi Cocina, Sadelles for brunch, and end the night at Monkey Bar. I also would love to take them on the Katy Trail. It’s a beautiful spot in Dallas that provides all the natural beauty you need. I would also take them to my family church so they can get to know my community and where I come from. My favorite places to go out around Dallas are Round Up, Liquid Zoo, and a cafe DJ set in Bishop Arts. I also love Le Sol house in the Bishop Arts area. My favorite restaurants in general, I’d love to take them to each night: Torchys Tacos (for the Queso), Las Palmas, Bowen House, Banner House, Si Tapas, Georgies, Colombian Club, and maybe a few more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
