We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yolanda, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We started Pawlicious Cookies because we wanted to offer dog treats that were both natural and truly healthy. Most treats
we found were full of preservatives and artificial ingredients, and I knew our pets deserved better. With this, we began Pawlicious Cookies baking with simple, natural, human-grade ingredients—no preservatives, no junk—just wholesome treats pet parents can trust.”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re most proud of building Pawlicious Cookies from the ground up with integrity, creativity, and a deep love for dogs. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to using natural, preservative-free, human-grade ingredients while still delivering a fun and visually appealing product that pet owners love to share. We’re not just making dog treats—we’re creating joyful moments between pets and their people. Getting to this point wasn’t easy. Like many small businesses, we faced challenges with production, sourcing, and scaling while staying true to our values. But through perseverance, community support, and a clear vision, we turned those obstacles into growth. We’re especially excited about expanding our reach into more independent pet stores and connecting with even more pet lovers who care about quality. Every step of the journey has taught us something, and we’re grateful to be where we are today—still growing, still baking, and still inspired.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone came to visit us here in Dallas, we’d absolutely take them to the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff. It’s one of the city’s most vibrant and eclectic neighborhoods, full of charm, creativity, and a strong sense of community—just like the spirit behind Pawlicious Cookies. The area is known for its locally-owned boutiques, art galleries, colorful murals, and amazing food spots, many of which are dog-friendly. It’s the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll, support small businesses, and experience the cultural heartbeat of Dallas. We love how Bishop Arts blends old-school character with fresh energy, making it a great representation of what makes our city unique. Whether you’re grabbing coffee, discovering handmade goods, or enjoying live music, it’s a place that truly captures the soul of our community. It’s not just a destination—it’s an experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our shoutout goes to our community ! Thank you to our amazing community for supporting Pawlicious Cookies and believing in our mission to bring healthy, joyful treats to your pups. Your love, feedback, and wagging tails inspire us every day!”
