We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Herrera and Lola Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yolanda Herrera and Lola Rodriguez, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To begin, we noticed that many of the dog treats at the local pet stores had many preservatives and were not really healthy for our dogs. With this, we started to do research over what makes a treat non-preservative and a healthy option for dogs. This took about a month to complete before we started to mix fresh ingredients together to make a healthy non-preservative dog treat. After this crucial step, we started to create our business Pawlicious Cookies and started serving our treats to those in Dallas and now ship them around the United States and internationally.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We really wanted to make a homemade, non-preservative, fresh treats for all dogs around the metroplex. We would really love to let people know that we strive to work one on one with dog families to make sure that we provide the healthiest treats for your fur babies. Our mission statement is “To inspire all dog lovers to provide their fur babies the best non-preservative treat.” With this in mind, we always work one on one with each of the dog’s owners to make sure we provide the healthiest option for their dogs. We strive to make sure each dog family that buys from us knows what ingredients are in our treats, knows that they are non-preservative, and most of all made fresh upon each order.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would love to take them to the Bishop Arts district and show them around Downtown Dallas. The Bishop Arts area is so so much fun to explore so many small business boutique’s or storefronts to go support. The skyline of downtown Dallas is definitely a scene to see when coming to this city! If the people visiting had a dog we would definitely show them around some amazing dog parks and provide them our treats.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would love shoutout our dogs Blu and Bravo Herrera who were the reason why we started the business. We would also love to shoutout our family that supports us in our journey for our small business.
