We had the good fortune of connecting with Xavier “Zavior” Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Xavier “Zavior”, why did you pursue a creative career?
I grew up expressing myself through different art forms such as painting when im sad, dancing to release anger, making music when i feel confused or dont understand how to feel. Being creative has always been a thing for me since i was young. I actually used to doubt that id pursue a career in music. Then after witnessing my first concert from the artist No Name and she made eye contact with me. It felt more like a glance of recognition creator to creator and her words inspired me to try it. Ive always wanted to be someone people and kids could look up to and leave a legacy. Why not try to leave one bigger than my favorite artists and do as much as i can go inspire who i can.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say what sets me apart is simply that i created my own sub genre of r&b. My discography is a mix of sounds and keys alot of of artists avoid. My music typically tells a story. I hope to continue that with my next project “Zero Xperience”. It was definitely not easy getting here. I taught myself alot of things but I learned i couldnt do everything on my own. Nor did i have the resources i needed to do so. Learned how to budget wisely for equipment and promo. There are many ways to make money off of music. Zavior may be my stage name but there’s still more i want to give to the world before i leave. I would say i consistently stay working on ideas for not only the project but my non profit Diverse Expressions. Diverse Expressions is a creative space that allows those who struggle to communicate through words learn to do so while improving at their art. Right now I’m still in the beginning steps, getting all the paper work, writing proposals for grants and sponsors, sharing my personal story as well as finding others similar to myself. There’s a lot of supplies to gather and planning that goes on before the picture is fully painted.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I actually dont have “favorite places to go” But i do say i enjoy going to thrift stores and music shops looking for vinyls its just something about the way vinyls feel and sound that just seems “complete” i want my music on vinyl one day. If I had to choose my favorite places to go itd start with for wings: Flavors in Arlington off cooper. For fun: I love going to art museums and just exoloring the city with creatives because you never know where inspiration could spike. A few places I spend alot of time would be Royal Lanes studios, Creators dont Die, The Dojo, and Ear Hustlaz, you never know who you’ll meet in DFW nor where the connections and memories ive made at these places i cherish more than most know. There’s definitely a lot of places to find inspiration here just got to live life in the moment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents for always being so supportive of my dreams they come to shows, buy merch, helped me get my businesses legalized and most importantly raised me to be the man before you today. Shoutout to my granddad Jerry Ross Sr. We are so much alike its easy talking to him about anything taught me alot about mixing and owning a business and how to be smart with my money. My music mentors(Chief Rebel, A. Michael E. TSB Whit.) Each one of them taught me something different and its appreciated because most would’ve given up. Thank you Chief and Mike for teaching me how to make and format beats. Whit taught me alot about playing with sounds and really dive deep into making music that I want and love. Because if your heart aint in it what the point . Ive had alot people come and go into my life that taught me different things, but the one thing they all told me is that i just gotta keep working and get out of my own way if i truly want to make it.
