We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Hooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started a recording studio after travelling over Texas recording friends and acquaintances for two years. Learning the craft since I was 18 years old. Finally taking it on the road to spread my wings and learn more from different people. I knew I could make it and have a successful business with the knowledge of 10 years recording and collecting musical gear. 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Any artist sets off on the path to separate themselves from the pack, at the same time creating an image and cultivating your personality through artist works. It’s simultaneously known and yet unknown. I’m excited to implement video and live performances into our recording space this coming year. It’s never easy to be an artist or musician. The path is not laid out categorically for you. Along the way you See how important people and forging strong personal relationships are. Also being able to bend and curve to fit the narrative. Whatever the client might need of you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown historic McKinney has such an aura around it. Feels ancient and still has plenty of room to grow. I might be a little biased but the two best retail spots in town are The Groovy Coop and Red Zeppelin records. Owned by Katie Scott. The Celt is the best pub I’ve ever been to. Nick the bartender is the best bartender I’ve ever met. Cadillac pizza is also first class.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout recognition goes to Katie Scott, the owner of the Groovy Coop retail store located in Historic Downtown McKinney. She has given me all the hope and guidance a tenant and friend could ask for. She’s a wonderful soul and fantastic business woman. Strong and secure in her ways. She has put up with me and that is saying quite a lot. Love Katie and her husband Andrew and her wonderful family.
