Meet Wick Zimmer | Artist & Stoic

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wick Zimmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wick, what’s your definition for success?
Success is difficult to define because it’s not a one size fits all concept. For me, I feel most successful when I’m making progress. Whether it’s improving my own life or positively impacting the lives of those around me. I believe consistency, adaptability, resilience, and a steadfast attitude help me achieve this. For instance, when I’m creating, I focus on expressing myself authentically and originally, while ensuring my work is motivational, fun, and meaningful. I’m not satisfied with a project unless everyone involved is happy with the outcome. Through my work, I often gain creative insight, build new connections, develop new skills, or earn financially. Ultimately, success isn’t a fixed goal; it’s the value added to my life and the lives of others in the process.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my identity and personality. I always strive to leave a piece of myself in every project I work on. What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity. When I care about a project, I stay true to my vision, regardless of outside influence. I am most proud of my growth as an artist. There’s something deeply rewarding about looking at a piece of work I created a month ago and feeling a sense of dissatisfaction, only to compare it to something I created recently and feel proud of it. This progression shows me that I’m constantly improving and perfecting my craft. My journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy. I’ve failed so many times, but each failure has taught me something valuable. I learned to use failure as a tool for growth, even when it initially felt discouraging. Ultimately, my story is about constant evolution. Perfection is elusive, but progress is what matters, and that’s what I want people to know about my art and brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
While I haven’t had the chance to explore many places and hidden gems in Dallas, there are still a few spots I’d recommend for a fun and memorable trip.
First up, Cidercade is a must for anyone who loves arcade games and just a fun spot to drink various ciders while hanging with friends. For just about $10, you can play as many games as you want, making it a great place to unwind and have fun. If you’re in the Fort Worth area, 7th Street is perfect for a night of bar hopping. Now, it may not compete with Austin’s well known 6th Street, but it has its charm with a great mix of spots to check out.
For something more exciting, Silo hosts a variety of events, concerts, and raves, so there’s always something happening there. If you’re in the mood for an immersive experience, I highly recommend Astra Lumina, an enchanting night walk that combines light, sound, and projection to create a unique emotional journey.
Lastly, Asia Times Square holds a special place in my heart. Growing up with family who spent a lot of time in places like Thailand, Vietnam, and China, I was introduced to these cultures at a young age. This spot feels like a little piece of home, with plenty of familiar sights, sounds, and tastes that bring back nostalgic memories

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to my friends and family. For helping me recognize the worth and value in my own life.
