We had the good fortune of connecting with whitney peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi whitney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Covid hit in 2020, which led to me having roughly 2 months to sit home and reflect. That time made me realize that I needed to be doing more. I wanted to start focusing on what matters to me, and what brings me joy. I think most people had that same thought process during those times, and a lot of people ended up quitting/changing jobs like I did. It was by far the best decision I have ever made.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I really love looking at inspiration photos that my clients bring to me. I find it so rewarding to give each guest exactly what they want. I have been in the industry for 10 years, and for the first time I can control how much time I get to spend with each guest. I love being able to spend time with my clients, and block out enough time to give them exactly what they want without time constraints on my end.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First off, if you’re visiting from out of town I would have to say BBQ and TexMex! We love trying new places, but at the top of my list is Hutchins, Hard Eight, and Terry Blacks for BBQ. For Tex Mex, I like Mi dia, and Mesero, but you really can’t go wrong with a margaritas and a patio! We live north of Dallas, so on the weekends we spend a lot of time walking around legacy west and grandscape. Both shopping centers have so many great restaurants and shops for everyone.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Nikki Lay Atelier is the salon I’m at, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Everyone stylist treats one another like family, and it’s so refreshing to be apart of such a positive and healthy work environment. We all work hard and we all want to see each other succeed!
