We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney and Giselle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney and Giselle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It actually didn’t start out as a business venture. We saw a sweater online and attempted making it our selves. A selfie was posted and friends asked if we could make them one. So we did and it just inspired us to do more. We put our sarcastic sense of humor and creative minds together and Highly Inappropriate Apparel was born.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The art behind our brand is really the tie-dye. We love all things tie-dye. It makes us happy. It’s colorful and creative and you really can’t go wrong with it! All the different patterns and designs are endless. We like the challenge it brings.
We started from the bottom now we’re here jk lol but for real! We really put in the hard work, persistence and dedication to sharing our work with others.
We really haven’t had too many challenges or obstacles to overcome. We’re figuring things out as we go and just trying to keep things fun and exciting for ourselves and customers. So we’re always thinking n the hunt for the next best shirt design.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh we’d definitely hit up our favorite restaurant/pub in Fort Worth, The Bearded Lady. The food is always so good and the drinks are too. From there we’d take a walk down South Main and check out the cool shops and get a sweet treat along the way. There’s rummage sales too with pretty rad stuff, so we’d do things like that too. And concerts. All the concerts, from local bands to mainstream, Fort Worth and Dallas has some great venues for live music. West 7th is also a pretty cool area for unique foods and drinks. But we’d prefer more of the dive-bar feel over on Magnolia ave. Pretty much all of downtown Fort Worth and near it is a good time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to shoutout our customers, our friends and family that have supported and purchased our apparel. We seriously wouldn’t be where we are now without them. And honestly as cliche as it may sound, us. We work full time jobs and have kids and homes to maintain but still make time for our growing business. We work hard to bring our creative ideas to life. It’s a tedious and time consuming process but we absolutely love what we’re doing.
