Meet Victoria | Owner of Al Bacio Bakery

We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own bakery was driven by a deep passion for baking and a desire to share the joy of freshly made, high-quality baked goods with others. I’ve always loved experimenting with flavors and creating something that brings people together. Over time, I noticed a gap in the market for the type of bakery that emphasizes both quality and a personal touch. I wanted to create a space where people could enjoy not just delicious products, but also a warm, welcoming environment. That passion and vision fueled my decision to take the leap and start my own business, with the goal of offering something unique and meaningful to my community.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to where I am today professionally has been an incredible journey, full of learning, growth, and overcoming challenges. It definitely wasn’t easy, but the experience has been rewarding in so many ways. I’m completely self-taught, which meant I had to put in a lot of time experimenting, learning through trial and error, and seeking out knowledge from various sources—whether it was cookbooks, online tutorials, or simply paying close attention to the details of baking.
The biggest challenge, of course, was building the skills and confidence to turn my passion for baking into a full-fledged business. I didn’t have formal training, so it took a lot of dedication and persistence to perfect my craft and figure out the logistics of running a bakery. I also had to overcome the fear of failure and the self-doubt that often comes with being self-taught. The way I overcame these challenges was by staying curious, always pushing myself to improve, and never being afraid to ask for advice from others in the industry.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is that passion and persistence can take you very far. Even without a formal background, you can succeed if you’re dedicated to continuous learning and embracing the process, even when it’s tough. I’ve also learned the importance of staying true to your vision, no matter how many obstacles you face.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s built on a foundation of passion, hard work, and authenticity. Every product I make is a reflection of my dedication to creating something special, and I want people to feel that care in every bite. My story is one of being self-taught, learning from experience, and believing that with hard work, you can turn your dreams into reality—even without a traditional path.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m located right outside of North Dallas, in Las Colinas. If my best friend were visiting the Las Colinas area for a week, I’d make sure they had an unforgettable time filled with delicious food, fun activities, and a little bit of adventure. Here’s how I’d plan their trip:
Day 1: Arrival and a Relaxing Start
– Morning: Start with a visit to my bakery for some fresh baked items and maybe grab a coffee nearby to kick off the trip. It’s a great way to introduce them to the local flavor!
– Afternoon: We’d head over to Lake Carolyn for a relaxing afternoon stroll along the water. The scenery is beautiful, and the atmosphere is calm and peaceful.
– Dinner: For dinner, we’d try The Keg Steakhouse & Bar for a delicious, classic meal with amazing views of the lake. It’s perfect for catching up after the first day!
Day 2: Exploring the City
– Morning: We’d grab brunch at Café 43, an elegant spot that serves delicious breakfast and brunch dishes with a Texas twist.
– Afternoon: After that, I’d take them to The Mustangs of Las Colinas, a beautiful bronze sculpture and one of the largest equestrian sculptures in the world. It’s a fun, unique part of the area.
– Evening: We’d spend the evening at Toyota Music Factory, a cool venue with live music, dining options, and entertainment. If there’s a concert or event going on, that’s definitely where we’d go!
Day 3: A Day of Adventure
– Morning: We’d head to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, just a short drive away. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with stunning gardens and plenty of spots for photos.
– Afternoon: Afterward, we’d have lunch at Pecan Lodge, one of Dallas’ most famous BBQ spots. The brisket is legendary!
– Evening: For something a little more lively, we’d go to Deep Ellum in Dallas. This area is full of cool street art, craft breweries, and fun bars with live music. It’s an exciting, artsy part of town.
Day 4: History and Culture
– Morning: We’d take a trip to The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza to learn about the history surrounding the assassination of President Kennedy. It’s a somber but important piece of American history.
– Afternoon: For lunch, we’d check out Mi Cocina, a local Tex-Mex favorite with amazing margaritas and tacos.
– Evening: In the evening, we’d visit Bishop Arts District, which has lots of quirky shops, art galleries, and cozy spots for dinner. It’s a laid-back, charming neighborhood with a lot of character.
Day 5: Outdoor Fun and Shopping
– Morning: We’d spend the morning exploring Klyde Warren Park, an urban green space in the heart of Dallas. It’s perfect for grabbing a coffee and just enjoying the outdoors.
– Afternoon: Afterward, I’d take them to NorthPark Center, one of the most iconic shopping malls in Dallas, for a little retail therapy.
– Evening: For dinner, we’d try Sundown at Granada, a rooftop bar with great views, delicious food, and craft cocktails. It’s a perfect spot to wind down the day.
Day 6: Local Flavor and Fun
– Morning: A visit to Farmers Market at The Shed in Dallas would be the perfect place to grab fresh produce, local treats, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
– Afternoon: We’d then make our way to Dallas Zoo to see the animals and enjoy the exhibits. It’s always a fun way to spend an afternoon.
– Evening: For dinner, we’d head to Hattie’s, a Southern-style restaurant in the Bishop Arts District with incredible fried chicken and cocktails.
Day 7: Relax and Unwind
– Morning: On the last day, we’d take it easy and head to Luminations at the Dallas Arboretum (if it’s the season for it). It’s a beautiful way to experience the holiday lights in a serene setting.
– Afternoon: A casual lunch at The Rustic would give us the perfect mix of great food and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.
– Evening: To wrap up the week, we’d catch a sunset at White Rock Lake and then grab a final dinner at Blue Mesa Grill, known for its Southwestern flavors and great margaritas.
Throughout the week, we’d hit all the highlights—the perfect blend of nature, culture, history, amazing food, and fun nightlife. I’d make sure my friend saw what makes this area so special: the community spirit, the food scene, and the exciting mix of local and regional attractions!
