We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Knight-Rivero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is something that I think varies from person to person, for me it’s a mindset. Sometimes many people find that they will never think of themselves as successful because they keep pushing their goals out further and further and they’re striving for potentially an unobtainable goal.

For me, success is waking up every day and being happy to go to work. Being happy that I’m doing something that in my opinion betters myself and others and having a good work life balance. You can be successful by starting your own company or by working for someone else. Sometimes we need to change our mindset to make sure we’re allowing ourselves to see our success instead of assuming it will come when we finally reach some goal.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We have always strived to provide a high quality service in an area of the industry that tends to be a bit more grimy. We don’t look like your typical AV providers. We always want to have a well put together appearance and have techs who treat each client with respect. We strive to provide our customers with the best sound and lighting for the best price because we know there are others out there who aren’t. I had a fellow vendor tell me they look at where the customer lives and use that to charge them their price. We don’t want anyone to feel like they aren’t getting the best bang for their buck.

It has been incredibly difficult to get to where we are today. It’s hard to break into an industry that is incredibly cliquey but we let the clients speak for us. We have gotten our clients to sing our praises and in turn their other vendors have learned our value and now we are hired through other vendors more than we are hired through the end clients. I’ve also been treated a bit unfairly because I am younger and many older vendors tend to look down on us, but we rise above it and do the best we can by proving the naysayers along the way.
We’ve also found services that make us stand out. We’ve become the go to vendor for cake mapping in the Dallas area. We get a lot of inquiries from around the country as well as we are providing something no other vendor has been able to replicate, that has really helped us differentiate ourselves.

Overall, we’re here because we care and that’s all I hope for people to know about us. We take care of our clients and their events.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Dallas. I always try to get people outside of the typical Dallasite scene and take people into the suburbs for food. There’s some great gems out there, one of my favorites is Cadots up close to Plano. It’s the best French food in Dallas by far. I also love the arts district we have here, the Winspear, The Meyerson, The Nasher, and DMA. All great locations to dive into the arts. The Perot is also one of the best museums in the state.
I think we also have some great parks in Dallas. Addison Circle, The Parks Downtown, and hopefully soon, the Trinity River Park.
Dallas has so many great things to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my grandparents and parents. They have always supported my passions. They never pushed me to do something that I didn’t want to do and they allowed me to make my own decisions growing up. Having parents who allowed me to decide my own path was critical to my success.

I’ve also had so much love and encouragement from friends along the way. They have supported my multiple businesses and they’ve taken the time to truly understand what I do, which means the world to me.
