We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Tolbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victor, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my life struggles growing up as a youth but also the struggles and lessons I have learned throughout playing sports in high school, college, and at the professional level. Being able to listen and learn from others, but really learn from watching others as well. The success of my brand NXT Level Fitness has been my passion and intensity behind my training. Also my ability to train different from other training programs and shock the body and minds of the athletes/people I work with. Another part of my brand success is the ability to adapt to the world and how life has changed for us all. As a performance trainer I have to be able to adapt to the way of the world. Staying up to date and ahead of the curve is key within the training industry.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of NXT Level Fitness. NXT Level Fitness is designed to help athletes, and the everyday person reach there fitness and health goals. What sets NXT Level apart from others is the positive energy and motivation within the training method. The ability to get clients to dig deep and do things that there minds have told them they can not do or they are scared to do. Also the belief that I have for my clients because when a client comes to train with me there goals become my goals and we work together to achieve them. Also what sets NXT Level apart is the way we train which taking our training up to the NXT Level. My job is to make sure if I am working with athletes then they are above and beyond ready for there sport. Making sure total strength and conditioning is at top peak. That means we are training for overtime, extra innings, or rounds. Two things I am most proud and excited watch the athletes I train perform and when I receive messages from clients about how I have motivated and help them to reach there goals. Also I am proud of knowing where I came from to being where I am now being able to train one of the top running backs in the NFL Mr. Chris Carson for the Seattle Seahawks. Knowing I have worked so hard to build up from training the youth, to high school, college athletes and now to train professional sports athletes is a blessing. I got to be where I am now by having patients and mentors and having the ability to always learn and take coaching to help me grow more. It wasn’t easy at all I had to walk out on faith and trust God that this is what he has called me to do because there was time when I wanted to go back to working a 9-5. The lessons I have learned along the way is that has helped me most is to have a system in process, stay learning and stay creative, and most recently building an effective brand and social media following for the target area I work with. Lastly I want the world to know that I am know as Mr. Motivation and that is what I do is motivate anyone I work with to be better them. NXT Level Fitness is a program that is about helping you reach your results and goals. My goal is to inspire and motivate as many people as I can while I am alive.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming into town for a week there is a lot of places we would go and things to do. To start off we would first go down to the Pike Place Market and to the Space Needle and then go eat and some drinks at The Nest a root top lounge another day to The Grill From Ipanema a (Brazilian rodizio). Next day we would go to the for a hike at Mount Rainer the Stratovolcano. Another day I would say lets go to Alki Beach which has a great view of the downtown Seattle. Other fun things to do would be go white water rafting in the norther part of Washington. Also over the weekend we would have to go to Suquamaish Clearwater Casino or Snowqualmie Casino.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Mr. John Gregory founder of the National African American Male Wellness Initiative. Mr. Gregory and the NAAMWI has been big in my growth as a man as well as an entrepreneur. Mr. Gregory has been a mentor of mine since I was 15 years old. As Mr. Gregory started the NAAMWI in Columbus, Ohio 17 years ago this initiative has spread to multiple states, and once I relocated to the Renton, Washington area I stepped up and pushed to help spread this initiative to help educate our men on the west coast about the importance of getting check ups and knowing your numbers. The National African American Male Wellness Initiative first started with the African American Male Wellness Walk which is a 5k walk/run with free health screening for all black men the day of the walk. This walk has grown to over 30k people in the Columbus, Oh and here in Renton, Washington our first year we had 1000 people walking. Over the years there as been different component added to this initiative are Cooking With Dads, Barbershop Talk, Financial Wellness, and a Gulf outing to help promote physical activity. All these initiatives are put in place to help show the importance of the Black man being in the household and how important it is to know your numbers and be healthy to live longer and be here for our families. Thank you Mr. Gregory and the NAAMWI for being a leader in the community and many black men’s lives.
