We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Still and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in Oak cliff, Dallas. I come from a family of seven, two brothers and two sisters. Life was difficult for us having two immigrant parents. We needed assistance and used food stamps along with Medicaid for some time. By the time I was attending Highschool my parents had divorced. Despite the hardships, my father played a huge role in my life as well as my siblings upbringing. He taught us to be strong, disciplined, fearless, and to always be our own boss. His perseverance serves me as an example to live by daily.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are in the financial industry. We cover three major sectors: investment, mortgage, and insurance. Our team helps families create individualized financial plans. Builders Business School (BBS) is what sets us apart from other companies. The Builders Business School (BBS) is an organization geared toward training, developing, and mentoring leaders to become brokers in the financial industry. Our organization is excited to pioneer a movement that is changing the lives of people looking to go into business for themselves.
I am a retired teacher who planned on becoming a principal one day. However, God decided to take me on another path so I can still do what I love, which is to teach. When this project of expansion was introduced to me by my aunt, I loved it. A couple of years later, my husband I took a leap of faith and decided for me to come to the business full time. Now, I run the business around my boy’s schedule. It’s the best since we speak to our clients mostly through Zoom. Some of the challenges we have encountered were adjusting to my life at home. Setting up routines for myself and my family was a challenge because we had never been at home all day before! It was tough accepting my mistakes, as a wife, mother, and businesswoman. I had to learn how to grant myself grace and let things go. After trial and error, I finally have a routine in place. It helps to take it a day at a time! This was very important thing to me because I knew having a healthy home environment would allow me to run the business with ease.

One of the most important things I have learned was to have my dreams and goals defined. We live in a world where people have giving up on themselves and have stopped dreaming. Life perhaps has gotten difficult and sometimes the easiest thing is to give up. But I want to challenge you to stop, be still and listen. Focus on the things that will take you to your destination. I believe God has set us up for success. Start with the end in mind, write down your goals/dreams and put dates on them. Get a mentor that will guide you through the process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised in Oak Cliff and currently live in Grand Prairie. All my friends have kids so most of the activities during the day would be at kid friendly places. To keep up the healthy lifestyle, I would recommend going on natures walks in the morning. Since I’m a former teacher, we would go exploring with our magnifying glasses! Epic Central is the place to be. We would visit Epic Waters a fun indoor water park. PlayGrand Adventures is not your typical park, so we would definitely visit and have a snow cone to cool off in this Texas heat. We love to eat at Jakes Burgers, First Watch, and Fuzzy’s Tacos. There will be lots of grilling out for sure, we like to let the kids run wild! After the kids go to bed, which is early at 7:30p.m, the adults hang out and drink margaritas or coke and rum.

In Oak Cliff, we could go to El Ranchito and El Rincon Tapatio for great Mexican food/coffee at the Bishop Art Districts, and take great pictures while we’re at it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Lord and savior Jesus Christ, he deserves all the credit.

My husband is a great speaker/ speech writer and has helped me work on my thought processes and speeches. He is always around to help me with my business ventures, but he has enough knowledge and experience to teach me so I can learn how to grow and give speeches on my own.

Mentorship has been a blessing in my life. I have a different mentor in different areas of my life. I believe God has put these incredible people in my life to guide me in my faith, marriage, and business.

BBS –The amazing Business Builders School has transformed me into the entrepreneur I am today. I’m thankful for our brokers who consistently pour a wealth of knowledge and experience on myself and our team.
