We had the good fortune of connecting with Ve Marin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ve, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have had a creative passion from a young age. Expressing myself through the abstract of art and design has always come easier to me than the structure of words. This was not initially viewed as a career but more of a natural hobby and pass time.. It was not until others started to take note and reach out to purchase my art did I realize. From there, I have used this path to build a life around creating daily. I didn’t start out with the intention of selling my art, I actually felt really lost and didn’t know what I’d end up doing. Not even considering any creative career as a legitimate way of life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, once I started selling my art I had to come up with an artist name. I know it’s traditional for people to just use first, last and say art or something. But this was a very very very transformative period in my life, I wanted to remember what it means to be a novice forever. When you’re new at something or dipping your toe in the pool of possibilities it’s exciting, it’s foreign. Your mind rubs rampant at the very idea of new found possibilities. Your creativity and curiosity takes over leading to all sorts of crazy new ideas or beliefs or practices and for me personally that’s a beautiful gift. So no matter how long I paint, no matter how many times I’ve done it i always always always want to be open to the new. To the beginnings of something. To always reach out and try something just because. To think of myself as a novice is a gift, is a mindset, is to remain curious in this life and welcome the unknown has such an influence on my life in and out of the studio.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
How fun. My ideal week is pretty laid back honestly but going to be full of food games n vibes. First things first we’re heading to uchi ba for the best cocktails, sushi and baos. My favorite restaurant ever.
Next up we’re staying in for board games and video games including but not limited too ticket to ride, catan, group games on the switch like Mario. If I had it my way we’d stay in and play board games all week.
Through out the week we’d walk through the design district looking at all the crazy vintage stores, specialty design stores. We’d walk the Katy trail, walk through victory park, uptown and then down through downtown Dallas for the classic Dallas skyline view except via foot.
More restaurants/ bars would be carbone, tango room, blue sushi, ascension, drakes, Loro, nick and sams, open sesame, snooze, wabi house, pakpoa, San Martin bakery brunch, RH rooftop for brunch.
As far as just drinks we have standard pour, cat bird, apothecary, the Stoneleigh P, parliament and select start.
Definitely walk around the arts district, exploring the DMA, the Nasher sculpture center, explore Kylie warren and the food truck scene.
If we wanted to party, it’ll do club takes the cake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh gosh. I love this so much. There is so much recognition to give and I hope that’s okay. Each of these people played a huge role in the start of my career as I started selling art at 17 freshly out of high school. My manager Melissa, she was the first person in my life who I felt really believed in me. I was a hostess about to start community college while my art started selling. Every single day Melissa asked me “how are we ruling the world today?” No matter what crazy dream I told her she always encouraged, supported me and nurtured my skills in anyway she could. I will forever and ever be in debt to her, I dont know where I would be with out such a positive role model.
My mom, dad and brother staying up until 4 am helping me prepare for art shows, packing, finishing last minute details. Craft shows and fairs have become a special bonding experience with my family and I. Something about packing and loading up. Spending all day with my family showcasing my work. My family has been here from the very beginning and I’m very blessed to say they are all my besties.
My beloved partner Bailey, we met because we were neighbors but then he commissioned me. Through out our relationship he’s supported me in every way he can. He’s been the bartender at pop up art shows I host, purchases the pieces from collections I launch that he wants, helps me set up for any and every show. The master bedroom in our apartment is my art studio he believes and supports me in a way I never imagined from a partner.

Lastly and absolutely not least. Every single friend who has shared something of mine. Liked my art. Spoke of me and my art to anyone. I would be nothing with out all of this support.
