We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Hammonds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, what do you attribute your success to?
Building genuine relationships. Networking these days is so calculated and shallow. I make it a point to connect on another level with most of my clients so we can talk about more than just Real Estate. I learn enough about my clients and associates to follow their journeys and support their goals outside of Real Estate.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Was it easy!? Haha – absolutely not! This has easily been the most difficult endeavor I have ever dared to embark on.

I’ve described myself as determined & hard working before. I know without a shadow of a doubt now, I’m resilient. Not in a…just keep going kind of way…but in the way a weed grows under concrete in complete darkness reaching for the sun until it finds it!

I believe I started my career in a particularly stressful time in my personal life. I learned that trauma doesn’t have to break you. PTSD may hinder you, but, doesn’t necessarily stop you. Most importantly self love and acceptance will take you where you are destined to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ironically, I don’t have a middle name. However, those that know me consider me Vanessa “Hostess-With-The-Mostest” Hammonds!

First, I’m picking you up from DFW airport with my top down, music flowing with a bag of snacks and a refreshment! If you’re jet lagged we’re taking a casual stroll down lower Greenville or N Bishop Ave!

When it’s warm the Dallas Arboretum and White Rock Lake for picnics is a must! For local attractions we’ll have to go to the Dallas World Aquarium, Klyde Warren Park, The Star, Six flags for my thrill seeking guests and maybe a tour of the Cowboys Stadium or the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Being that I live in the heart of Bishop Arts District…for food we’re walking out the door and choosing from Eno’s, Written by The Seasons or Amê.

For IG worthy pics we’ve got to stop by RH Rooftop Restaurant, Te Deseo and Canvas Hotel Rooftop Bar & Lounge. And if we’re on the hunt for libations – Botanist or Parliament.

Neighborhoods we’ll inevitably end up in would include Uptown, Victory Park, Trinity Groves, Southlake (for shopping of course), Bishop Arts, Cedars and downtown! Hopefully we can catch fun shows like Black Girl Art Show, Rainbow Vomit or the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit!

No visit is completely without a home cooked meal from me!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, there are so many people who have lifted me up and supported me – but – no one quite as consistently and adamantly as my Mom.

She is my best friend who answers my calls at 3pm or 3am and hops on a flight in an instance if I just so much think I may need her. My mother listens to my wildly creative ideas and ambitions, furthermore she will be right there with me in the trenches to make my visions reality – whether that is an elaborate baby shower, building a platform bed frame, making custom artwork, sewing an outfit from scratch, over the top exotic vacations or designing a new room – she is the other half that brings my ideas to life (and sometimes back to reality 😂)..

I wouldn’t have made it this far without her endless love and support. I love you Mommy!
