We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerie Rocio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valerie, let’s jump right in. What are you most passionate about? Why?
I’m most passionate about supporting female entrepeneurs. Women make up majority of degree holders and of the workforce in America. Although numbers are rising, we still don’t make up even 10% of the top CEO’s in the nation. I’m passionate about supporting female entrepreneurs so together we can rise and change these statistics. My company supports women in two ways: We hire female creatives to provide work and give them an opportunity in the digital industry, which is male dominate. We work with woman-owned businesses to provide them quality services at an affordable rate in order to grow their brand awareness. Between these two initiatives I hope to empower more women to start businesses and become leaders in our nation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is in the form of content, whether that’s social media content, videography or blog writing. My background is in Journalism and that’s where I learned the art of storytelling, humans want to connect with humans. Although I didn’t pursue journalism, I was able to take the storytelling skills I gained and use them in a more creative way to support businesses. The world has become a very visual place with short attention spans. The most important thing I’ve learned is being able to adapt. The digital age is rapidly changing and the world is becoming a faster place, you have to be able to adapt in order to survive.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
My favorite spots would be in Deep Ellum. I love vegan tacos from Tiki Loco and appreciate the really chill vibe of Deep Ellum!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Suzy Batiz has made a huge impact on my journey. When I started my business I followed the “linear” steps, I had an incredible business coach who guided me through contracts, pitching, scaling, the works. This helped me create a foundation to grow my business. Then I met Suzy and started working with her on expanding. I was able to work on myself in order to grow my business more than I ever thought I would in this period of time.
